Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

hunter x hunter could never end, hell it could never update again, and i'd be happy with that if it meant togashi got to live a long, healthy life.

i really hate the fact that a significant number of fans are pushing him into this "suffer for your art" mindset. let him retire. we are not entitled to an ending if it's going to further cost him his health and happiness.

I would love for it to finish and I'd love to see him work on other stories because his storytelling is so fun to me but his health is more important and the weird entitlement to an ending or update some people have for it and series like it always bothers me. Not that anyone in this thread is doing that or anything but while we're discussing it

Definitely get that his health is important but I also get the fans just wanting something they enjoyed to get a proper ending. Makes me wish some sort of compromise could be worked out so the fans can get a proper ending and he can remain in good health or retire.

nah, i don't get those fans. you're not entitled to an ending at the sake of the creator's health, period.

the actual, non shitty fans of hxh understand and accept that they might not get an ending.

the compromise would mean not doing anything to the creator's health, anon, that's the point. i think something like togashi just handing in the general script and let other person finish the actual work would be great, and not talking about fans here, i think it'd probably help him just forget about the whole deal and rest comfortably while his work is done.

I don't think Togashi could rest comfortably if he did that, is the thing. Dude's a hardcore perfectionist and is really hard on himself, that's why his health got so bad to begin with. Look up the message he wrote when Yu Yu Hakusho ended, he basically calls himself a failure for writing one of the most popular shonen manga ever, because he wasn't satisfied with the ending.

Wouldn't be surprised if HXH not ended has a psychological component based on his baggage from that, too.
