Ew

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Apologies if any of this is obvious stuff, but here goes:

Having the standard clerical processes in place is always a plus. Links to the rules, premise, FAQ, applications, add/drop lists, mod contact, world map/description, taken lists, hiatus, etc, etc and any other important info links that might be relevant to your game. That you can figure out by looking at other games, but keeping up with those lists can be time consuming. Co-mods definitely help with that (and, when I was on a bigger mod-team, we had a couple of mods/helpers whose specific job it was to maintain lists.)

You may want to figure out all of the things you really want to accomplish, lay down, and write it all out in a mod-locked post in your mod journal. Things you'd like the characters to discover further on down the line. I was grandfathered in to both of my mod jobs, and it was a chore tracking down plot tidbits to piece together game progression. Having a locked post where you can log all this means you can track it down later for your own convenience and any co-mods you take on later can be easily pointed to it.

This sounds like a very plot oriented game, which is appealing! Would there be a limit, i.e. a pre-determined end game? If not, would there be filler events in between the big plot movements and savior battles? If so, you may want to think about instating a suggestions post so that people can contribute what they'd like to see (and if you don't want things getting too cracky or off the mark, perhaps write out some guidelines at the top about the sorts of event suggestions you'd accept.)

Lastly, I think the savior idea is awesome, but it may work in your favor to have a group selected for this event? Maybe 4-6 folks every time? I say this because RP'ers are very big on Inclusion and if only one person gets to 'grand stand' at any given moment, then there's bound to grousing among the player base. Including more people each go means more people get a chance to play hero, and a bigger ripple will go through the game since more people die every time, and that's certainly going to affect a great amount of people.

Thaaaaat's all the advice off the top of my head. Did you have any specific concerns re: modding?
