Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I wanted to ask what anons thought about an entirely anon run game. (Mods apply through socks, no one knows each other. Less risk of being outed and lowers bias between mods with everyone on equal footing that way.)

On one hand, there's no way to tell if your mod team are all high key wankers that might blow up the games with drama but on the other it could bring minds together that might otherwise not interact, which could be really refreshing on how mod perspective works. We already know modding together can ruin friendships, that comes with its own risks. it would be a very small game with player cap.

Kind of worried people might think this is some ploy from the game ads person after reading that drama though.

Hmmm. I probably wouldn't play there, but it would be interesting to observe. In a sociological experiment sort of way.

Would players be offered the same blanket of anonymity that mods are?

hadn't thought of that and I'm not sure how it would work since players tend to plot on plurk/discord. all plotting and communication restricted to game comms and CR meme? Duplicate plurks and discord accounts solely for anon game?

Interesting idea, the players would also be able to interact without their predetermined biases. I like it in theory but it seems like an accident waiting to happen in practice. I think in this environment there'd be a lot of crying that such a set up would "force" players to play blindly against people who make them feel uncomfortable since they don't know who anyone is. People like plotting on plurk and discord and talking about their games, that would really limit tag commentary and enabling, wouldn't it?

Ultimately, that sort of thing would be up to mod vote as I don't want to run a game by myself and think everyone should have a fair chance to weigh in on something that extreme.

It seems really cool for a murder game style short and fast rp but I'm not sure it matches what I have in mind here.

i think players being anon for a full game would be difficult for all the reasons stated...also, people would go crazy trying to guess players

Out of curiosity, how would anon mods be communicating with one another? Would they have to make a sock plurk/discord? If it were only a two mod team, PMs might be doable, but that gets tricky when you have more people.

Gdocs with shared access through the mod account/npc accounts. For Gdocs a color can be picked like in discord chats.

Posts and comments through the mod journal or a side journal for mod communication. Possibly both. Everyone has a handle/gdoc color/letter/NPC name they can sign off with, such as:

Event post goes up privately for review.

Someone comments:
"Read the event post, fixed a few typos."
- Mod V

Or in a to-do list post

"Taken list updated 9/9 2:34 PM"
- List Mod
"Reserves opened"
- orange mod

whatever they're calling themselves

Private communication through plurk could be done on the mod account in a similar fashion, everyone signing off on their responses but that sounds unnecessarily complicated.

i think it could be interesting for a short term game, especially if players could remain equally anonymous. as for people thinking it's suss, they'll forget all about that person in a week or two, so i wouldn't worry about it.

i don't care how mods choose to run their games re: anonymity. i'd play there if the premise interested me and i wouldn't if it didn't.

to me a premise matters more than mod mechanics.
