chortles fatly

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Yes, they certainly are but consider this: you're a new mod who keeps trying to get a game off the ground. You have four players, sure you could ask them for feedback but there's four people and a slew of potential for more people to join. So, ask those four for feedback and then ask the rpreviews community for feedback in hopes of a solution for your four and the potentials that sounds promising/doable.

Or you're a new mod, running a game and it's brand new. Before you open, you need to make sure everything is done well. You need a reviewer but other friends haven't modded or haven't been on dreamwidth long or don't rp on dreamwidth.

There's all kinds of reasons for this community but I'll understand if people don't want it. You're the second person to voice it, so yeah.

instead of making this comm you should just take the advice you were given on your own game and go apply it.

It made me realize we need something like this. I actually see no problem with the community and it's useful. I have no intention right now of using it myself, given I've already received advice. I'm starting to think from rpanons, that this might not be the community for me. It's actually wankful on it's on, though I've come across nice anons too, who were helpful. It's sad journal rp has become this way. Fandom is pretty much a no go unless you join forums.

Anyway, please keep comments about the advice I asked for out of game advertisements. It's rude. I did ask for it, but we won't get into why I scratched my head and wondered how I was wordy when most of the games on here have longer explanations than I have.

I think you're trolling and completely missed the point of rpreviews, given what is discussed in the profile page. It's meant to be useful, but it seems like dwrp is as full of drama as IJ unfortunately and some of you don't trust yourselves to leave a respectful, constructive review to those who ask like; Hey, this is a really good start but there's some things you definitely need to fix. This going to be wordy so bear with me, because I've ran a couple games (or alternatively), I've been in enough games to understand dwstructure of modding.

Guess what I did just now? Gave someone positive feedback while explaining they had some work cut out for them. I've actually ran a lot of games in the past. I went and looked. It is not a complete mess. I feel like people use anon stuff to be buttheads, just so they can be. Which is the point of topic and user moderation for the rpreviews communnity.

Whatever, leaving it here incase anyone gets interested. I'd really like to see it flourish and be used appropriately. I somehow doubt the same people will be moderating games over and over again. There's always fresh moderating faces that need help, so I welcome them.

no one's wanking on you. they're trying to give you advice and getting frustrated because you're coming in as someone who doesn't understand the local community much and dismissing the feedback of people you asked for crit. you're coming across as the kind of person who asks for crit when all you really want is attention and praise, and it's really off-putting. mods have to be able to take criticism well and have a good understanding of their playerbase. this attitude you're taking is making you look unflexible and unreliable.

Ah, sure. Game advertisements. Take it over where I left the other post. If it was me.

wow, I know we've had issues with anon comms killing new games, but I've never seen someone so thoroughly fuck up their own game before it even opens

kind of impressive, really. I almost wonder if this is a staged troll.

no one is going to use this community because dwrp doesn't need it. the culture here doesn't require mods to put up their games up for review when we review games already on anoncomms. i would tell you that it's a good idea but just seeing you shit up flatview is just making it more obvious that you have no idea what you're talking about.

take that one anon's advice about playing in more dwrp games before claiming to understand what this place needs. it'll open your eyes to what you're sorely missing out on tbh.

+1

dw isn't ij. it isn't even lj. what flies on one doesn't on another. they're right in that fandom isn't as big here as i wish it would be, but we already know that, so coming in and being abrasive about it because this one thing they tried isn't washing over well isn't going to make it better. we sound like bitter assholes because we've been around long enough to know what doesn't work. so coming in to throw a fit over people saying it won't work doesn't look good. you're taking the blame off you and throwing it on the people talking to you and on the site as a whole because your thing doesn't work here.

No, we don't need something like this. We already have our own mechanisms in place for this. Every active game has a mod contact page where people can go to provide suggestions and feedback, and many have regular HMDs for the same purpose. We already have a community where players can solicit opinions on games they're potentially interested in. We already have a space used to workshop games-in-potentia, sometimes extensively (the Game Ideas thread down-page).

People keep telling you to slow down and familiarize yourself with the community here. If you're going to stick around, let alone attempt to run games here, you really need to take a seat and do that. There's little more annoying than a fresh transplant deciding they're going to save journal RP by completely reinventing the wheel instead of taking some time to figure out what tools already exist.

the amount of attitude and defensiveness in this response alone shows you are not suited for being a mod.

the amount of hand holding you are asking for in the other thread also shows how ill prepared you are for things not going exactly how you want (believe me, it happens a lot when you run a game).

just go write fanfiction or ask for some psls. you got no business running a game.
