Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I have Old Bay. It makes everything taste good. EVEN YOU.

1. Nah. There's really only a couple characters I can think of that were so badly done by the worst people that anyone else shies away from playing them. Megamind is one. Kronk is another. But considering there are other Master players and DW players and we have That Master that pretty much crapped up that character and DW is still happily played around, I'd say it's easy to get over a bad apple if a cast or character just is a decent person and isn't the worst example of anything ever.

2. Screened posts are great (it's also helpful to allow for anon if you feel you're comfortable with that since people can feel hesitant to make comment with their names attached. -- but if it turns to harassment, no harm in turning it off and turning IP logging on). They give people a place to just politely say no, but they're still held accountable if someone's a bum and goes to the mods and says they totally told you x and you're like "... /screecaps page/ No they didn't." We're a mix, anon. We're good, we're bad, and we're ugly. I just hope you come across more good types. Or at least just apathetic.

4. Nah, not mandatory at all. Games mostly have plurks to update tdms/reserves/applications/events, and you can just follow them instead of friending (since most games don't friend back). It's a good way to keep track of stuff if you're in a game. Discords are a bit too much for me since it's constant/all the time and one question can get overtalked and lost.

5. In any case where you're playing with someone and you're not sure about how they'd take something (new people on memes, new cr on games), the best route is to PM them or ping them on Plurk (if you have them added). You ALWAYS should have the PM route open since it's on site and site specific, so that's a good way to keep lines of communication open. If you're in a smut thread and you're not certain of kinks or even language (some people find cunt or pussy offensive, some prefer penis or dick as opposed to cock or wang ((sorry for the language))), it's a good way to just start a PM trail to confirm what you're both comfortable/not comfortable with. I've done it myself "Hey, just checking to see if you're okay with x word/x action and if not, I'll change what I intended to write. If there's anything you're not okay with, would you mind letting me know so I can avoid it?"

It's simple and easy, and that's part of the communication of DWRP. Not a faux pas at all.

I like the cut of your jib. You're an anon with taste!

1. Gotcha.

2. I enabled anon comments though if I seemed like I didn't or came off that way it's cause I wasn't sure if that was relevant given it's an opt out so I figured people would use the accounts they don't want tagged BUT there's an anon option there if they just want to. For any comments that aren't opt outs I have a critique page which I assume is pretty necessary though that can be used for more than just character specific crit right?

And I'm hoping that too! If this post is any indication it's going to be that way but worst case scenario I can still be polite and civil. (And as I said in another reply, humble! ¬v¬)

4. o> Goooot it.

5. Okay, good. I usually try to avoid those words myself but for more of a "if I can use something else that's not outright blatantly crude I will" but they don't bother me any and I'll keep the communication lines open and buzzing no matter what.

2. If you're talking about an HMD page, yeah, they're pretty much open for everything. Most people use them for crit, but once in a while, I've gotten a few really nice comments about my playing. It's open for whatever someone feels like saying about your playing. I don't know why people consistently think it's just for critique, but it's for everything and it's nice to get a few buttpats now and then.

5. Then you should be fine and I hope you have a wonderful experience here on DW, anon. Welcome. ♥

2. Well in my case I assumed the nicer stuff would be in something like PMs or Plurk but in any event it's good to have that kind of communication page for sure!

5. Thank you, anon. ♥ Everyone here's been super helpful and I'm looking forward to nestling my way on in.
