rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

a bunch of people already answered but i'm too lazy to read their responses to see if they covered everything tbh

1. unless you're playing lucky the leprechaun or mr. crocker from the fairly odd parents, no. there are plenty of That Characters, but that doesn't mean other people don't play them without issue.

2. i don't know how neckbeard your canon is, but people play from fate/ which (full disclosure i don't actually fate/ but from my experience) seems pretty neckbeardy. i remember some judgment about some character named rance from some weird rapey hentai thing i can't remember the name of, but otherwise, people play from some pretty neckbeardy stuff.

3. a lot of games and tdms get advertised through word of mouth and on plurk, but there's also

dwrpmasterlist and

enablemeplz.

dedoralive also exists although i don't know how updated it is.

4. plurk isn't necessary, but it's helpful to have imo. i think you come across as a bit unapproachable if there's no easy way to contact you oocly. plurk and discord are the main social avenues here. discord is usually used for one-on-one dms and game servers (as well as sometimes friend group chats etc.) whereas plurk is mostly yelling into the void type stuff.

5. first of all, keep in mind that some people are just complete fucking psychos and will cause problems no matter how polite you are. i'm sure it's the same in tumblr rp, but jsyk, you can do everything right and still have someone who's way too invested in rp take issue with you. otherwise, just be nice, pay attention to permissions, don't overstep boundaries, etc. - general social stuff that i think you seem like you'd be fine with since you're asking these questions in the first place.

there was actually a guide for tumblr rpers that was kind of condescending, so i edited it a bit and never ended up posting it. it's here (https://tinyurl.com/y4slkhfs) if you want to take a look at it, although i have no guarantees about it being perfect since i mostly just tried to take out anything that seemed weird and condense it down. still, you might find it helpful!

Honesty is the best policy!

1. Ahhh ok, that makes sense. Got it.

2. It's pretty neckbeardy but looking at what F/GO has done with characters like Queen of Sheba and the entire Agartha thing which idk if you know about but it's pretty trigger inducing and well... bad... it's about that level if not less so. It's a canon that gets fairly sexual but the worst of it's trigger inducing aspects comes, at least imo, in the form of dumb or in poor taste humor. Hopefully I didn't ramble there...

4. I can understand that and it'll definitely help if people I want to plot with have it, so in that vein I'm definitely gonna be getting it myself.

5. Honestly that sounds a lot like life. If anyone does take any issues with me I'll do my best to rectify the problem but once it's obvious they don't want to talk to me and/or are getting aggressive I'll refrain and move on. Anything else would come off/be pushy and that's the last thing I'd wanna be in any situation.

Even in the rance players case, the issue wasnt that he was playing from the canon, the issue was that he didnt have any warnings or optout about what kind of canon he was from in his profile. There was another character from the same canon floating around at the same time and i dont remember any drama about them.
