mostly water, but sometimes a brew made from a particular tree sap that every species but her own considers supremely vile. finding any of it outside her homeland is virtually unheard of.

we only see her drink tea in the series but i've hc'd a bit of french wine and coffee culture into her tastes, as it would make sense. she's not particularly picky about coffee or wine, but she won't ever turn them down.

All Yakuza characters seem to be obsessive whiskey drinkers. This is totally not because of product placement, nope.

Tea Time is a mechanic in the game and Edelgard's favorite is a bergamot blend that originated in the empire she was born in. So when I went to go and find different teas that had bergamot as the highlight all my searches came up with Earl Grey tea.

I'm tempted to see if all the characters favorite blends have some kind of meaning behind them. Like Lindhardt's preferred tea, Angelica, IRL is actually made from angelica root and is meant for upset stomachs and helping relieve insomnia.

minor tea nerd here! idk if all characters' favorite tea blends have a meaning, but there's definitely more. iirc, dimitri's favorite is chamomile, which several regions (including many of the european ones the blue lions draw from) consider calming and a sleeping aid, to the point it's better known for that than its flavor sometimes.

bergamot orange iirc is commonly used for its pleasant smell, but i've also seen it mentioned a lot as something that can lift your mood, and less commonly as having relaxing properties and making it easier to focus. ~~it's also sometimes used to add a bit of sour flavor to sweets to balance them out so they're not too sweet.~~ it's a pretty fitting tea for edelgard.

Thank you, anon! I knew that stuff about chamomile (used to be lowkey into tea myself, but only on basic bitch levels) but the info about bergamot is incredibly helpful (and hilarious). I really appreciate your input. It's really cool to have a little more knowledge on the subject.

Copying Edelgard above because it's IC to be just as good if not better -

Southern Fruit Blend tea. It's apparently an oolong-type and oolong is said to prevent diabetes, which is hilarious since Ferdinand has a sweet tooth.
