Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

A LOT of mobage, idol, or girls school type canons have 'girls having super close friendships with other girls and canon hints at a possible romantic relationship/shipteases out the WHOA but never actually canonically says they're lesbians', so that might be a good genre to start off with.

My favorite of that vaguely defined genre is Revue Starlight, a 12 episode anime. The basic premise is that high school girls at a prestigious school for the arts are drawn into a secret competition where they fight each other on pseudo-magical pseudo-allegorical stages in the school basement in order to become the "Top Star". It's got gorgeous music, a compelling plot, a surprisingly thorough into themes of fame and theatrical stardom.

It does suffer from no canonical lesbians, but there are three relationships that you can easily read as romantic (there's a dramatic train station confrontation between two girls as one attempts to leave town, one girl breaks down in tears at the idea that her partner lost, and one girl essentially damns herself in order to protect her partner) as well as one girl who's HEAVILY implied to be a lesbian and attempts to get an indirect kiss multiple times from the girl she likes.

You had me at 'dramatic train station confrontation.' This sounds perfect, thank you so much! Not only do I have a new show to binge, but now I've got a whole genre to explore.

i'd say the relationships in revue starlight are basically canon. there's not a lot of on-screen physical affection, but the language they use for one another is pretty unambiguous, at least in japanese.

I'm a little biased, obviously, but Revue Starlight is lovely.
