Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

it's no worse than any other game imo. I know plenty of people who have joined the game not knowing anybody and have had a great time and lots of cr. like anywhere else, you get out of it what you put into it so just tag out and be enthusiastic and you'll have fun.

I'd say it's somewhat cliquey.

Anon above me is right in that it's totally possible to join knowing no one and get great CR right off the bat, so I don't think it's cliquey in the "if you're not OOCly friends with people you'll be left out" way.

I do notice that characters tend to kind of cluster in groups when it comes to who has CR with each other, though, and while most people branch out from that main group a little bit, it can be difficult for a newcomer. If your character is adopted into one of these groups or you just happen to tag out to people who are all in the same circle, hurrah, you'll probably start making plans right off the bat and get to do some cool things.

If the people who tag you or who you tag out to are all part of different groups and your character's primary CR doesn't really have any CR with each other, it's easy to feel disjointed, like you make plans with people but you never seem to be part of their main plans, and what happens with your character never really makes waves with the rest of the game.

If you app two characters you might have two completely different experiences because the cliques are based on IC interaction more than OOC friend circles, but you definitely can end up feeling like your character is flopping for reasons that aren't your fault.

I don't think this experience is really exclusive to this game, tbh. it happens in most medium-large games after a while. people have limited time, so they keep up the CR they enjoy (which tends to be whatever they've clustered together with castmates or otherwise) and don't necessarily have the energy to branch out a whole lot. I don't think it's really a bad thing to notice that, nor is it something that people should be forced to change.

that said, I have found that 90% of people in the game are totally happy to make plans if you reach out to them or ask to throw things at the wall to see what sticks. so if you join and feel like you're "flopping", just tag out for a while, respond to open posts and make an effort and you'll be fine.

100% agree with this!

I realllly don't think that describes a "cliquey" game. That's just where people's ability to keep up with CR tops out. It's only cliquey when those venn diagrams start being isolated circles.
