rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. I want to try cross canon tagging but I don't know how to pick someone because I barely know any canons.

And do I just assume CR? Which world will this be set in? What if they don't like my canon?

So hard. I just want fun.

this is why i never end up tagging out to anyone crosscanon on memes. at least if people actually did starters in toplevels i could see if any characters i'm unfamiliar with seem interesting, and i'd immediately know what kind of settings/interactions the player is interested in based on what they set up. alas, the most i can ever hope to see on memes these days is a brief description of the character at most.

I do miss games being common in this regard, since you didn't have to know any canons to tag out. Just like meeting new people, characters could get to know eachother just at the same time as the player, and inspire the players themselves to get into new canons.

maybe I've been a LCW too many times, but how is this not a common thing in games? or are you saying that games are less common than memes?

Sorry! I meant games being less common than memes nowadays. In a game, you play out a relationship from the moment they meet, so there's no expectation of needing to know the other character's canon in order to play with him.

I pick by the limited canons I know or what info is available in the top level (this is why I try to leave a brief description or prefs). Otherwise I just go by icons or whoever 'feels' right. Then I check their journal for info. Sometimes even just their preferences is enough to work with.

I formulate an idea, hit them up ooc to see if they'll like the scenario, and move on to another character until they respond. If there's enough info I might write a starter immediately but I try to cover my bases to make sure I'm giving them what they're looking for before I start.
