Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

what’s going on in this game? do people tag a lot? how are people finding events? looking around and premise seems interesting

It's going pretty well generally. Like any big game there are plenty of people that barely tag, but there is also more than enough people that do, at varying paces.

Events have actually been a subject of discussion in the most recent mod feedback post as almost all of the events so far have either been a big shared dream sequence or a festival. This has been getting a bit old, so players have spoken up about it, and it sounds like it will be taken into consideration in the future.

Besides the main events (which are a little dull so far imo mostly just due to them being repetitive) there are a ton of available sidequesting/job prompts offered every month, which are pretty in-depth. So there is plenty to do in game despite all that. Especially if your character is the sort to make a name for themselves in a flourishing city, via business or being savvy in other ways.

The mods are open to players submitting ideas, events and quests of their own, and have otherwise been fairly generous and flexible.

The current event, despite being another shared dream, has some fairly intense content, centered around slavery and mind control being forced on monsters in another city. I'm mostly just hoping we can do more things that aren't dreams.

It is very friendly. Players have been great at seeking cr and working towards goals for events. Mods could use some work but I believe they are shaping up after the feedback post.

hi anon! i'm new so maybe my opinion doesn't hold the same weight as a veteran player, but i thought i'd share a few of my first impressions anyway,

- very backtag friendly! obviously, this doesn't apply to everyone in game, but i'm pleased that i'm still chugging along with several of my threads from the intro log.
- along the same note, i don't feel like i have to pull teeth for threads - i'd previously played in a game where it felt like i had to put in a huge effort for any return, but aef's playerbase seems enthusiastic in tagging out/gathering new cw.
- i admit, i was concerned with how the mods were lagging behind in answering questions; they've stepped up and addressed that issue, though, so i'm hopeful it really was just a passing issue with the summer.
- that said, you can definitely tell the mods want their players to have fun. despite the amount of background and plot the game has to offer, it's cool to see how willing they are to engage with their players' creativity.

hope that helps!

+1

honestly i'm very pleased with the mods just going "actually how bout you go do that" when players propose off the wall ideas that include things like leaving the main city for an extended period of time & potentially having to get all AC just via network posts

they've given us a big ol' world to explore & aren't shy about it happening--there's no real attempt to bottle players up to one location as can happen in other games

+bunches for it being backtag friendly, too

& also for the record i am a newbie from the latest app round but then the most time anyone's been in the game is five months at this point so 8V

easy to get cr, relaxed ooc atmosphere. i don't know if i'm in the actual minority about not minding the pace of events and heavy reliance on dream events, or if the majority is just silent, but i personally like the way the events go and the creative freedom without strict consequences.

the new plot is exciting! so glad there's going to be consequences to the dream event

also really curious how everything will shake out, especially on the diplomatic side. reading a lot of different ideas that sound really fun to play

I am not fast

Anyone feeling overwhelmed by the speed and intensity of this game? Tips how to keep up? Jesus even the mods can't keep up

Only pay attention to the stuff that matters to you most. It's a big enough setting and there are enough things going on that unless you're playing a character who is very proactive and inclined towards investigation, it makes complete sense that they won't know or be aware of everything.

Just pick one or two things a month that you want to focus on. For example, don't feel like you need to pay attention to what all three teams are doing, with this Dorcha thing. Just focus on the one you're actually part of, cause it's not like your character would know everything anyway.

i'm tryna be sympathetic here, anon, but

this doesn't seem fast. black city shared dream event was posted on the 18th of august. tale of two cities, a continuation of that dealing with irl fallout of the dream, was posted today, three weeks later. three weeks is plenty of time, even if you didn't do much in that time (i was on hiatus all of august so i missed most of black city, but i feel like i had enough time to catch up)

the mods can’t keep up for entirely different reasons. we now have some players really asking great world building questions or getting involved in the not-SOL aspect of the game, this is a nice pace and feels flexible. As anon said, focus on your cr and where your character will be during this month.

are you trying to do every single mod posted log, and take on quests? that might be the problem. there are pretty clearly a lot of things you can do so that no one feels forced into the metaplot or forced into slice of life, but hitting every single one is a lot. the metaplot stuff has been really spaced out.

it seems fast, but really it's kind of a set your own pace game.

depends on your thread partners, too! there's a huge variety of speeds here.
