maybe if i'm severely depressed, but normally, no. bad things can happen to good people. good things happen to bad people. no one is owed a good life just because they're good and think they deserve it.

i do firmly believe in personal responsibility though, and making what you can of life. you made bad choices you're going to suffer bad consequences. that's not karma/god/whatever's doing, that's your doing.

yeah, i'm asking because i'm pretty down about my declining health.

sometimes i wonder if it's happening because i used to be pretty shitty when i was younger.

i'm okay, just looking for solidarity.

I actually saw a good example in a book that helps someone bring logic into things like this.

The example was similar, someone who got hit with poor health (in her case it was cancer at a young age) and was wondering if it was because they joined in with other classmates in picking on a girl in their class.

Now someone who is down and trying to figure out "why me?" may think their poor behavior is a cause. We're taught that if we're shitty that bad things will happen, which is meant to both discourage people from acting poorly and also be a coping mechanism for dealing with people who act poorly to us. But logically this would only be true if every person involved in picking on that girl got cancer, which wasn't true in the story. Obviously in your case not everyone who acts shitty when they are younger ends up in poor health later. If that were true, then my mom should be in terrible health for how poorly she treated her kids (my mom was abusive). Health and behavior don't have any correlation.

So pretty much when emotions are high just try and attach logic to it. Once you are back to thinking logically you realize those negative thoughts make no sense and it's easier to deny them and realize that your health isn't declining because of how you acted when you were younger.

yeah my life philosophy isn't like, "you have this disease because you did bad things years ago and omnipotent forces are punishing you thusly", (i don't really believe in karma or god or whatever) but more you have a this sick and it's part of you, whether you like it or not, so you gotta make peace with it. you can choose to be happy or mad or sad about it. that's all valid. people are gonna tell you CHIN UP and no man you can be pissed at your body. you can vent to anons about it. you are allowed to do that. think to yourself "maybe this shit ain't so bad" or "fuck this flesh tomb and its broken ass shit". your feelings are valid. those are yours.

you didn't choose to have your health decline, obviously. i'm sorry if that is how it came across, i can see how it could have. more i'm saying you have the ability to chose how to deal with it.

i'm not overly superstitious/religious, i've just dealt with A Lot Of Shit. had a lot of people hope really bad things happen to me whether i was good or bad so sometimes my dumb sadbrain wonders "oh my god, what if they hoped so hard that it came true? is karma real and not just imaginary internet points on plurk?"
