Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Help needed. If I want to post a meme using my normal rp account (not a sock, since I don't have one), can I turn off notifications only temporarily or will all the comments for that meme come to my inbox later when I turn on notifs again?

when you post the meme, post it and use the 'don't email' with the notifications/comment option on the post itself. that should work (it does with my sock accounts that i use to post memes with). though, tbh, if you have any desire to post memes more than once, i'd make a crappy sock account just to do it with (and i'd still suggest putting do not email in the notification/comment dropdown box.

do note this refers to email notifs only tho. iirc your journal's dreamwidth inbox will still receive all comments made to that post, so if you use that for tagging it might still be an issue. that's another pro to having a meme sock account; no worrying about spam in the dw inboxes of my character journals too

for my sock meme account, i have it so that i put 'do not email' for notifications, but i also have 'someone replies to my entry in a community' unticked in the account settings/notification tab.

use a sock account. even if you put "don't email comments" you'll still get them in your dreamwidth inbox.

very annoying if you use your dw inbox a lot.

i promise you, you don't. i can show you my inbox of my sock account i use to post memes and it's at 0. all i do is hit don't email comments. boom.

you must have tripped some other option too, because my meme posting sock is sitting at 2000 inbox comments and that's all i do.

You must have also unticked the "Someone replies to my entry in a community" option.

That also makes the "don't email" thing pointless since it's not giving you notifs for that period. If you don't get them to your inbox, they don't get emailed. DW has no option to only email notifs.
