This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. this is why i wish playing the occasional SOL thread in plotty games didn't have such a bad rap. joining a plotty game and then ignoring the plot to play nothing but SOL is one thing, but my favorite SOL threads always happen in the quiet moments in between high stakes things. to me, endless SOL with no broader context is boring, but endless action with no downtime is, too.

i just hate that "broader context" is always something really fantasy or sci-fi. which i get because like how else do you handwave all these muses together? muses who are probably MOSTLY from fantasy and sci-fi genres. but "you wake up in a ___________ and fight/explore/survive your way out of _________ to uncover the mystery of this place." cannot be the only solution, can it? it feels like the only solution sometimes.

so can you "scale up" bigger game events but still keep them in the SoL genre? I don't know what that looks like im genuinely asking if anyone's seen that done.
