More details: I work alongside my father doing freelance construction work. "Carpenter's Apprentice" is the closest thing I can think of to describe it but we basically do whatever the client asks us to do in regards to repair/installation/etc.

what can i do that makes it less likely to hear my roommate getting it on with their s/o from their room thats also nondestructive. im desperate at this point.

if we're going the nondestructive route (I assume you also don't want to modify anything too heavily?) then acoustic foam is the way to go.

I could give you a rough estimate on pricing but I'd need the measurement of the walls themselves beforehand. You might've seen acoustic foam used by musicians and/or LPers on Youtube and depending on your walls' material + the acoustic foam brand you use (I recommend Auralex 100%) you'll either completely block the sound outright or at the very least deafen it.

and the anon above me isn't wrong. earplugs are also an easy solution, though sound cancelling headphones also work wonders for me when I'm home and my mom doesn't wanna hear my music.

hey anon, as someone who grew up with a musician relative that had a room with that foam, let me tell you: really consider things before going for it. not saying NO DON'T IT, just saying please look at pros and cons. because cancelling nasty noises sounds nice but it also means you will missing important noises like maybe your roomie falling and calling you for help or a window being broken

(i mentioned the foam but it applies to the sound cancelling headphones as well)

+1ing this! I live with a disabled parent and whenever I know it's just us in the house the sound cancelling headphones stay off because I know I won't hear it if she falls.
