well, the reason wasn't because of minor rpers per se, or at least it wasn't the main one. it is a habit of the old days that started because:

1. locking it just like tons of people lock their porny fanart: so it isn't found through google. it was about minors in general, not just rpers (especially back in lj which was used much more).

2. even if things have changed a lot since the amat days, people still judge what you ship/smut a lot, so they want to keep eyes away from it. sex games are already wanky as they are.

it is not weird when you consider people locking their museboxes for similar reasons.

you're factually wrong about that. we've had a person recently (i think late last year or early this year) come in and say they were new to dwrp and underage and were looking for places to play where they could do so without getting in trouble for being underage/avoid smut situations.

it's still also part of the terms of service. if the comm has 18+ content on it, it's just helpful to lock it when people put their char ages in (sometimes) for the rp account, not their own ages.

tumblr's changes have pushed a lot of tumblrites to dw. and like other people have said, it's for content and comfort. people drag people on wg for preferences or smutting on bs or dumb shit. they try to on sex games, but with the rules of 'don't c/p locked content', it was a good way to lessen people putting kinky shit on blast on wg.

i think it's just been that there's more sex games now than there used to be, or more sex-style games. there have been 18+ games without being sex specific that have locked their content before.

this is just the case of a nosy neighbor mad that the couple next door put curtains up in their bedroom.
