This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. stuff that's super popular tends to be on the blander side anon, lbr. mcu, dcu, game of thrones- while they aren't "bad", they do have some lower lows than stuff that's more obscure but higher quality like, say, true detective. the blander stuff is usually easier to rp from.

ok? i'm not arguing about canon quality. it doesn't matter how good or bad something is. obscure canons get ignored for being, guess what, obscure. people will tag the characters they love.

people don't play from true detective because crime dramas simply aren't fun to play from (for most people i mean, obviously there are those that *will* play from it, but they are a minority). they don't give people "muses". law and order is far from high quality and you don't see them all over bakerstreet either.

with canons like law and order, they're not very rp-friendly. with lao series: they're long as shit, there's nobody to really rp other than the main characters, and the majority of the episode is solving the case.

canon-reviewing would get PRETTY DAMN TEDIOUS. svu has, what, i think 20 seasons? only dwrp's craziest would expect you to get every canon detail correct but just thinking about rping from something "too long" gives me anxiety.

lots of people play from canons that are too long. supernatural will end in its 15th season. naruto ended after seventy something volumes and it has now a sequel going. doctor who, well, usually each doctor is counted as its own set of seasons, but most people that watch modern who have watched more than one doctor and that's a LOT too. also look at all the jojos in this post.

not saying you're wrong to dislike long canons - that's fine, tons of people avoid them and for a good reason. but it's definitely not something that has stopped people from playing from those canons if they like them.
