"you're the best X!" or "you're my favorite X!" doesn't even faze me as a compliment anymore.
whether it's online or irl, it's basically almost always just empty asspats in my experience.
i've dealt with abuse and manipulation that involved me being my abusers' "favorites" even when they treated me like garbage compared to other people but i don't dare mention that shit lest the "ur my fave tho uwu" people go into overdrive to pat my butt as if ignoring me later isn't going to hurt twice as much. or they'll assume i'm batshit when i'm not.
there's no way for me to say try to look humble and say "please don't call me your favorite, you don't have to, lol" without them patting my butt about how great and FUCKIN' PERFFFF i am before they ignore me to go have fun with their other "favorites."
like damn, just be honest and say you're not feeling our threads. i'm not a fucking idiot.
in my entire life, i've only had one person tell me i was the best/their favorite "goku" and actually appreciate our friendship. i don't care if she rps dean/goku with other "goku" players but it's comforting to know that she considers me one of her closest friends and we can always make dean/goku jokes and vent about shitty dean/goku headcanons even if she isn't actively rping dean right now.
