anons, i want to play an artist. someone that loves the stage. singing, dancing, acting, you get it. no medium preference. and while i don't mind idols as a concept, i don't want a canon that is JUST about that (like love live or uta prince). an idol that happens to be in a canon of any other genre is ok.

shakespeare (yes, THE shakespeare) from fate/apocrypha was the first character to come to mind. he's super over the top with his stagecraft, which is a literal magical power in fate, and exactly what you're looking for. apocrypha kind of blows to be honest but it's fairly accessible and you could also just play him from the mobile game instead if you wanted, going balls deep into the lore is definitely not a requirement for him.

2) Park Tae-Yi from the Korean drama "What's Up?" (or any cast member from there tbh)
3) Any of the cast from Honey and Clover (anime/Japanese drama)

*minako aino from sailor moon is an aspiring idol in the anime, and an actual realized idol in the live action
*rachel amber from life is strange: before the storm is an actress
*the protagonist of perfect blue is a pop idol looking to become an actress

if you don't mind more fate recs or a character who isn't necessarily good at singing, nero from fate/extra is very passionate about the arts

all of my tastes are shojo as hell, so apologies in advance. sooo many characters from Princess Tutu could count. they're ballet dancers + authors for the most part. Princess Tutu's also good because the skill level of the characters is all over the place, but they're all enthusiastic about what they do.

Sailor Moon's got more artsy characters than just Minako: Michiru/Sailor Neptune is a renowned violinist and the Starlights are idols.

Suite Precure is a music based magical girl series. not all the characters are artists but a few of them do put a focus on singing or playing the piano. likewise, the main girls form a dance team in Fresh Precure.

Black Heaven (Kachou Ouji) - salarymen (who were part of a popular band in their youth) are summoned to fight space aliens by playing rock music. Yep.
Nodame Cantabile
Sakura Taisen (kinda dated + a predecessor of sorts to all-girl idol groups in theater + they operate miniature clunky mecha)
One Punch Man - Amai Mask. Technically we only see him being interviewed in the series, but he is very image-focused. It carries over to his hero work.
Paradise Kiss - more on the modelling side iirc
Durarara - Shizuo's brother is an actor

My Hero Academia Illegals - Pop Step is an underground idol. She uses her Quirk/power to give random street performances without permits, has an online-based following, and ends up helping out two vigilantes. Her appearance in everyday life is different from her idol persona.
