This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. nobody's saying you can't like asioaf you realize?? but there's literally nothing defensible about the gross-ass minor sex scenes. you can like things that are problematic without saying "BUT IT'S OKAY BECAUSE--" when it's not

The anon you first replied to was saying that a lot of things are easier to swallow in written form than they are in visual form, which is objectively true. If it weren't true, the series wouldn't exist, because most people would call time out on sex with minors if it had the same impact in writing as it would visually.

Your statement actually served to reinforce the original anon's point, but since you personally couldn't get past it in the books you framed it like a counterpoint. It's not. There isn't a counterpoint to that unless you think watching children having sex on screen would be equal to seeing it in writing.

This has literally nothing to do with apologism or not acknowledging problematic content. Anon was making a more general point about how we respond to different media. It doesn't require a checklist about all the things grrm did worse than the show and suggesting it does is totally missing the point they were making.

i actually forgot about some of the newer ones when I wrote that post (I was thinking of that one instance that just gets mentioned in king's landing) because i skipped a lot in the latest book if it was going in a nope direction, most if not all of it was just really unnecessary
