but for real, there's lots and lots of reasons why someone would be interested in roleplaying morally questionable content. just because you apparently had some weird issues that were behind it all doesn't mean that's the case for everyone. trying to make this a black/white issue is always going to fail, because interacts with fiction in different ways. some people are gross about it. some people aren't.

you're definitely not going to be able to pick up enough about a person to judge which way or the other it is on rpanons, though.

because they're interested in exploring a certain avenue of development for their character and morally questionable content is the best/easiest/most engaging way to facilitate that

because they're curious and explorative fiction is a great way to sate any curiosity

Listing one or two reasons would go against their initial point that there are so many variables that trying to discern why people play what in the first place is dumb and a rigid pov. I'm positive you're trolling at this point but I play out darker scenarios because it's fun, and doing it in a niche writing form lets me explore taboo topics without harming anyone in the real world, which I would never want to do. Further more, the anime teen boys that are pretty divorced from reality to begin with, so to make claims like "that means you're attracted to real teens!" when players like a fictional 2d character is downright stupid, not to mention a large portion of the RP and fic writing scene is gay women.
