This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. i know i'm really late to this but here is my take:

"bland nice guy" ?? yuuri isn't generically nice. if you find him bland, that's your deal, but he isn't even necessarily "nice" in the first place. "unnaturally skilled" what? he's literally spent his whole life on it and had no social life whatsoever so he got more time in than most on top of it. he's not overly skilled compared to the other characters either. idk where you're getting this "thoughtless asshole" shit from either, unless you only watched like, three episodes. he has his moments, but it makes sense when you consider his characterization and history. as for him being kind of a dick regarding skating at points: your coach being blunt as fuck with you is part of skating culture. they didn't pull it out of their ass. they did an obscene amount of research for this show. there is a reason the professional figure skating community is crazy for it.

and if you're going into anime expecting no anime humor, i honestly don't know what to say to you other than don't watch anime. the humor is aimed at people from a different culture entirely, so it's going to be hit and miss. some of us enjoy it. if you don't find it funny, fine, but don't get mad about it. just move on with your life. also lol @ "violent physical abuse".

it wasn't made for anyone, either. it was a passion project that everyone went batshit over. clearly it appealed to someone.
