be careful using poison if you have pets, anon!

food grade diatomaceous earth works pretty well for a lot of insects (bedbugs included, fuck those pieces of shit) and it's pretty much harmless to non-insects as long as you don't inhale it or get too much on your skin, since it can dry your skin out.

i think ants hate the smell of cinnamon too.

...i did not know that about cinnamon. i wonder if i could find a cinnamon broom at this time of year. it would at least get them out so i could clean in peace to prevent them coming back!

i might also try the diatomaceous earth. i'm also thinking about trying peanut butter and poison, since these seem to be attracted to (brace yourself) dirty clothes and the like, which suggests protein is the answer.

A vinegar-water solution in a spray bottle worked pretty well for me when I had ants. It kills them pretty much right away. Makes the room smell a little funky for a while, but it's better than my then-roomie's proposed solution, which was to spray all our kitchen surfaces with Raid.

I use this stuff since it's pet safe: http://ecosmart.com/products/ant-and-roach-killer.htm

It leaves behind a pretty strong minty smell for a while but that's better than regular "bug spray" smell.

I had ants once (they were coming for the dog food) and I basically sprayed it along the trail they were making and around the window they were sneaking in and they never came back again. Killed them on contact.
