so let me see if I have this straight:

The mods try and implement an age cap for literally no reason, bungle it completely, half the game drops, game closes?

that's missing some of the finer fuck ups, but yes, accurate summary.

it was the whys of it too. it wasn't just 'we'd like an age cap', which might have had some grumbling, but eventually just died down, but also 'we want an age cap because we've seen random occasional mentions of bitching on anon sites that have nothing to do with this game, and oh, btw, our mod-controlled npcs wouldn't play with underage chars'.

when disgruntlement was brought up, the mods gave two sort of solutions and one nuke them from orbit passag one and people just noped out after that. end result was the mods closing the game within a week. pretty shitty, if you ask me.

and i'm not in the game. just a popcorner from outside.

What annoyed me a lot about the poll, too, was that there was no option to not have a cap, either. The game fully proved they didn't feel a cap was necessary, and the mods themselves said there were zero complaints about child characters in the game.

They just refused to budge on a cap that was being implemented solely because they'd seen probably a total of three complaints outside of the game on anon comms. After the game's members made very clear they didn't find it necessary and tried to work with them on a solution that didn't involve having to do it.

They were so tone deaf to the things their players were telling them that it hurt. I think I'm going to be shocked by the stupidity of these mods for the rest of my time rping, honestly.

i didn't even play here and don't care, but this comment reads like you've never modded and have no idea what goes into it. do you think really think the mods' feelings on having too many underage characters in a game not meant to be geared toward children didn't factor in at all? lmao why would they care about a few anon grumbles (if they even did) unless they were of the same opinion

Nah, I'm fully aware of what goes into it. I'm going based on what they publicly told the player base. They said that they have no problem with child characters, and that they'd "seen complaints before" about adults threading with child characters. And said that none of the game had complained to them at all about it. They also never once advertised the game as an "adult game", even had an age minimum of 13.

If they were of the same opinion and hated child characters, then that just makes them liars to the player base instead of just incompetent.

it was also that they said underage characters would be locked out of "large portions" of the game, which made some people who apped in understandably upset because they joined to do those things with the game's plot and setting and were now being told they couldn't, even though they had never been told that before.
