Beware

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

So say that there's a small, odd game going around on plurk that won't advertise here or in the enableme_plz meme. It says it will allow a max of less than fifty players, maybe even as low as twenty, is a heavily AU-based setting, and seems to hold elements sort of like a dressing room with what sounds like regular campaigns to keep plot moving. There's a set run-time which means it's probably not going to be a long-running game, but a couple of your friends are pretty excited about it and are planning on joining... the setting itself sounds fun but I've never played in one before and I know they get bitched about here a lot.

Would you hop in as well despite the AU stuff and the smallness of the game and the other unknowns?

These questions seem more and more like a Professor Laytonesque riddle the more I see them. The only thing missing is some kind of math problem.

can I use a hint coin, Professor?

i personally wouldn't jump into a game with that kind of cap unless i was really jazzed about the premise. i wouldn't want to take up a slot and waste it if it's the type of game that closes apps for the rest of the run once they hit the cap.

i'd join for the small cap and au

That sounds like my ideal RP experience tbh. By "they get bitched about here a lot" do you mean AU games? 'cause that's just a preference and pretty much any preference is going to get bitched at here.

yeah AU was what i meant. it sounded like people had bad experiences.

a lot of people are clamoring for a smaller game, the problem is smaller games by nature seem to draw really slow people who make it their third game they look at occasionally and take their sweet time replying (the same thing with any odd day ratio games) and they barely sustain themselves. i think the only way to curb this is really to have a higher ac and not allow super short threads to be used toward the whole number of comments, but i think a lot of people either fear they won't make a number like 30 (tbh higher should be encouraged; if you can't do at least 30 comments on a network a month then how can you ever create meaningful cr unless everything is handwaved?).

for me, as much as i want a game like this, it's really important that i like other people in the game or most of them are above average writers. i'm at the point in my rp career where i don't enjoy just throwing together a sentence or two, handwaving everything, and keysmashing about an interaction on plurk where nothing really happens. i want substance even if it's silly and i want someone who doesn't always need their handheld and isn't always "you pick" or "all the things!" and i find a lot of games like this seem to have a much higher ratio of these people in them.

that being said i have a small as hell plurk list and no one on it ever reblogs game plurks or spams for people to join their games so i likely wouldn't get wind of it, anyway.
