his homophobic pro-conversion therapy rhetoric probably did influence peoples' deaths, actually. conversion therapy has a 50% rate of suicide.

it's kind of a testament to how young people are that they forget the power of propaganda, since there hasn't been a lot of outright propaganda in decades.

those fundie comics are the proof. he has made multiple tracts about gay people suffering because being gay is caused by demons, and how gay people just need to accept the light and become straight again. most notably are the tracts wounded children (which was so bad that chick himself retracted it, an honor that was reserved for one other tract, lisa, which portrayed a child molester who is born again and forgiven to reconnect with his daughter and healed of all STDs and disease because of it) doom town, birds and the bees, and the gay blade.

these things are given out and reinforce homophobia and shame gay people. they're used to harm people.

this is like the old argument about whether or not guns kill people, except even more stupid because the murder instrument in question is bad comics. if anyone has ever killed or even harmed someone with a jack chick comic, i can only applaud their resourcefulness. they're so laughably over-the-top one could probably make a serious case for chick being a deep cover reverse agent patiently dismantling fundie credibility for 50 years. he makes fred phelps look like a goddamn success story

you're being disingenuous. no one literally killed someone with the physical comics as weapons, no. the rhetoric the comic endorses does kill people daily, though. as I said earlier, conversion therapy has a 50% suicide rate. people do take these comics seriously. they've been passed around genuinely and people do believe them. people buy into the idea that they must turn people straight or become straight at any cost, which causes depression and leads to suicide.
