rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

but how would you know the difference between someone dyslexic vs someone that's lazy? i personally point out that i apologize if i have errors and ask to be informed if there's anything major but i don't like to outright say that i'm dyslexic.

depends on the quality of the tag. if it's consistently difficult to figure out, i might ask. but most of the time, i've had people that i rp with steadily give me a heads up. like 'jsyk, i'm dyslexic, so i might have problems with a few things' or something similar.

if you're not comfortable saying it, that's fine and i wouldn't suggest pressuring you into doing so. but i've also found that people are pretty forgiving when it's a legitimate issue vs laziness. like i said, my sister's dyslexic and i've watched her struggle with it her entire life. i know how demoralizing it can be to try so hard and still not get it. not to mention she was in school before they used to really do anything for dyslexics, so she just got labeled as stupid instead of having teachers willing to work with her. granted, some people might still be jerks even if they know, but i think, from my own experience, it's more likely that someone might be willing to point something out or let a few typos slide if they know that you're probably doing your best.

i don't have any reading or writing disabilities, but i still typo from time to time. i've seen illegible tags before and some of them have been from people that were just too tired or lazy or not really paying attention to double check. i think if you're making an effort, people are more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt. at least, i hope they would.
