Beware
Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-25 02:32 am (UTC)(link)terminology: the owner is the admin with the board's root account. the admins are what we'd call the mod team. mods over there are basically what we call list mods, sometimes with app mod duties.
forum rps are usually for oc's, that's the majority. fandom games tend to be about one fandom (frequently just oc's, sometimes even just reenacting canon with bonus oc's) or about smashing a few specific fandoms together. it's extremely la heavy and they often use 'panfandom' to mean any fandom as long as it's once upon a walking teen superwholockvengers diaries (or whatever else is trendy rn).
this isn't to say there's not any anime/animated/vidya fandom, just that it's the minority. there's definitely a small subset games where you play oc's and are just required to use an animanga faceclaim.
ads asking for people to come play 'canons' are often asking for canon characters, but can also be oc-only games asking for players to come pick up mod-created characters that are 'canon' to their original setting.
you will encounter many people that sign up to rp and then do nothing but sit in the forum's c-box sighing about how pretty their chosen pb is and posting tumblr gifs of them.
there's a big culture of coding and making lots of graphics/ensuring character info pages are super pretty according to mod specifications, which can be fun but is also a major way of not actually rping.
quality varies massively, you'll see a lot of cringeworthy oc's running around. there are some great ones too, but steel yourself and be ready for all the edgelord mcrapebackstories you're gonna see.
lots of games have minimum wordcounts, though there's been pushback against that recently.
games die a lot. a lot lot. there are many more of them and they sort of cannibalize one another whenever a new shiny appears. if a game does get off the ground and have a strong player core it can go for years, but the first months are critical and you see a lot of fad games spring up and die within six. if you love a game, get involved. advertise aggressively. befriend your fellow players. help it look active.
idk what else, any questions you can think of?
