The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

don't you love it when people read too much into (one of) your comments and project so much shit onto your post?

especially when you deny their batshit accusations and they accuse you of being a liar even though there's nothing that implied what they think in your op. great for anon wank but frustrating when your name's attached like on tumblr.

tell me about situations like this that have happened to you, anons.

i've seen something like that in two games, both times with the same kind of character (wallflower delicate princesses who turn into tumblr's version of fierce bitches). basically the players of the fragile cinnamon rolls take anything a more popular character says and then turn it into an attack against their character. then they pat themselves on the back for playing a strong female character who can beat down any strawman.

the one time this happened to me, the person was actually right on the money... and managed to out themselves throwing a hilarious tantrum and hurling accusations left and right

this was like, what, 7 years ago? i was in a game with a police force and, like most games with police forces, there was a bunch of OOC drama about who was doing what, who was participating enough, what the police force is or isn't able to do. one person, let's call them D, got really nasty in chat, shooting down everyone's suggestions and contributions to the chat and acting super hostile. afaik their character wasn't in the police force but had a lot of conflict with them so they didn't want a stronger police force. in the end, they singled out one or two players who did have police force characters and started criticizing their activity and basically being a huge asshole.

i wasn't involved in this even remotely, was just present in the chat, but a little while later i ended up going to rpanoncomms (the wank comm at the time) and posting a comment that was pretty much "wow, lost a lot of respect for someone after seeing how they acted in chat."

D FLIPS OUT. and it's obvious it's D because they immediately jump on the thread and start accusing one of the players they'd singled out, let's call them G, of badmouthing them. i don't think i posted a single other comment to that thread til the end, but it'd ballooned into this huge pile of accusatory bullshit where D more or less outs themselves, reveals what game this took place in, the whole situation they had a bug up their ass about, and comes across as a huge tittybabe by the end.

prior to that, i had pretty good cr with them actually but i never tagged them again afterward. the obvious moral lesson is: if you think that unspecific criticism with no context is OBVIOUSLY about you, the maybe you should examine your own behavior

not actually me, but: i remember the this one time when my friend was joking around about a game i was in on my plurk, and the mod of the game they were joking about bumrushed them on aim with all these accusations about them hating their game and sniping at them specifically and wanting to pull me out. friend denied it, mod told them 'bullshit' to their face and kept right on going.

my friend wound up quitting dwrp for years over it. it was 300% bullshit.
