Gotta catch 'em all

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I have plans to app in this coming round and have a question I'm curious about. What sort of emotional reactions would you like to see, or enjoy seeing the most?

I'm talking things like the earth cracking around scared characters, sparks flying around people who are angry, that sort of thing. How would you feel about more wacky or outlandish effects? Or is there a reaction for an emotion you want to see done but hasn't been yet?

Honestly, whatever adds some flavor and interest to a scene. If that's wacky and outlandish, that's fine. What suits your character? How can their reactions be uniquely THEM? Master that and the specifics will work, whatever they are.

I don't care what the reactions are so much as I care that they suit the character. The emotional reactions are the spice that adds the flavor, not the meal itself.

That said, I do wish people were more liberal in using them. I feel like a lot of the newer players in particular forget that they're an option, but you can really add a lot to your scenes just by having tiny details like smells that shouldn't be there or nearby flowers wilting.

Yes please. I dont use them a lot myself but I see it so rarely it makes me feel like I'm overusing them.

I use them every chance I get because they're fun and they're the reason I apped into the game in the first place. Join me, anon. If more people see it maybe more people will remember to do it.

I know I need to get into the habit of using them more. The thing is characters who have been there awhile or who have been practicing dunamis have learned to cut down on random emotional displays beyond extreme moments.
