except that's what i'm complaining about, that it didn't come with a warning.

why are you guys so hyper defensive over a mildly worded complaint?

that is the warning. you don't need a pre-warning for a warning that's given to you six months ahead of time.

you apped into a game that's closing, with or without you. what did you lose? not any cr since you're new. time writing the app? well now you can just copy/paste it into a game that's not closing. if you're new, you haven't lost anything.

announcing that the game will close in half a year is not poor form by the mods. it doesn't matter if it's before or after the app round, at least you were TOLD and now you can choose what to do.

We apped into a game we didn't know was closing. I for one invested a good amount of hype and excitement into finally apping in after missing the last two app rounds due to IRL problems, and now that I finally get in, a week later I find out the game's closing, and that's pretty fucking disappointing. It's fine if they want to close, but they really should have announced it before the app round. Having been a mod before, yes, it's kind of poor form to announce something big like that after an app round and not before. Waiting until afterwards is kind of a dick move.

I'm still looking forward to playing here and I'm going to stick around for the next six months, but I can still be miffed that we weren't told that it would be a definite limited time commitment before putting in the effort to get in.

exactly what the other anon said. what kind of warning were you expecting? how much time is 'enough' for you? a year? two years? six months is more than long enough for a game that never gave a previous closing date or had a long list of events to get to that they're not doing. this isn't like ed, where they 'had a closing date', then kept upping it because the mods were idiots. six months is more than enough time. stop being so pressed that 'the rug got pulled out from under you'. you're sitting on your ass rping. you're not expending any effort or energy.

I think they have a point, if the announcement was going to come this close to an app round, it really should have been made before the app round because for all that six months is still a lot of time to play, the existing playerbase is going to play differently when they know endgame is coming and it is a tricky situation for newer characters. I've apped into games a few days before an endgame announcement hit before and it's been much harder to get the new character established than it had been a few months earlier in the exact same game.

what part of 'they might not have known until after' are you people not reading? is one member of the mod team supposed to be clairvoyant? they can't post what they don't know. if this is a case of 'they weren't sure and they posted when they were' then it sucks for the new app round. but asking for an app round to be pushed is incredibly selfish, as most games work around app around, so that can throw off and skew events and ac for at least a month afterward, which if the game is closing, isn't fair to anyone still in it.

god, you guys are fucking selfish.

The part where that's complete bullshit. I've modded a game before; you know when you're going to close it long before you're ready to make that announcement. If the writing is on the wall and you're expecting that you might be making that announcement, you get your shit together and do it before the app-round starts, because not doing that is a dick move to your players.

and this tittybaby tantrum is why nobody wants to mod anymore.

they made the announcement SIX FUCKING MONTHS before endgame. how much more fucking warning do you need, you entitled shits?

They wanted it before apps not immediately after, that's pretty obvious. People apped into what they thought was a continuing game only for it to immediately turn into a game with a set end date. The fact that the announcement is for six months out doesn't change the fact that the minute you announce endgame it does change how people play in the game and it is going to be harder for new players to get a foothold than they were expecting when they apped into a game without a set end date.

Do you not read? My complaint has nothing to do with how much time they've given the game. 6 months is plenty, really. The problem is, I just got here, and they didn't bother to let anybody know they were thinking about doing this before a whole bunch of people join in.

That. Fucking. Sucks.

Would I have still apped into a game I knew was going to close? I honestly don't know. Probably not. I'm here now, and I do like this game- I was looking forward to getting in- so yeah, I'm going to stay, but I really wish I had known before I bothered getting my hopes up.

That isn't exactly an unreasonable complaint.

And before you say 'oh, they didn't know', once again, I'm calling bullshit. If you're running a game, you damn well know you're going to consider closing it ahead of time. Bull-fucking-shit they 'didn't know' they were going to make a decision that would impact the entire game a week before they did it. If they were thinking about doing that? The decent thing would have been to sit as a mod team, decide if they were going to go ahead and do that, and announce it before an app round.

Again- six months? Reasonable amount of time to go to endgame. Announcing it that far ahead? Totally cool. Waiting until after an app-round to do it? In a game that only has apps every other month? Dick. Move.

Hope that clarifies why we mad.

so fucking drop.

no one's saying it's not a terrible thing, but you people bitching about the WHEN of you knowing are likely the ones that would never be satisfied. boo hoo. the evil mods lured you into their game for the purpose of hearing you bitch and whine about them not being entirely sure about something and waiting until they were before they posted it. i'm sure they did this intentionally, just to fuck you.

that's what you sound like. like you're blaming them as if they plotted this for purposes unknown to lure you in. you didn't waste that much time. you didn't lose an entire drawer of spoons by apping in and getting excited. jesus fucking christ. you'd think they came in and took something tangible out of your house, ffs.

it's not a terrible thing. at worse, it kind of sucks.

enough with the melodrama, fuck.

no one in this thread sounds more bitchy and whiny about this entire thing than you do, anon.

Re: AYRT

basically you're mad over nothing.

you just got there, fine. now you have six months to play in a game you'll probably drop after two anyway.

I hate to be like "my experience is everyone's experience" but as someone who came in this app around, the announcement doesn't bother me.

Yeah, it was a minor shock but I stay in games from 6-9 months. So 6 months to me is plenty. The whining over this baffles me because if you just apped and don't like it, leave? You wasted what....2-4 hours on an app. In the gist of things, that's nothing, especially when you can reuse most of that app elsewhere.

This complaining is dumb considering the amount of time involved.
