Don't forget the neglected "app workshop", implemented due to people crying about "harsh" app standards. Because not being able to get into a game of pretend isn't faaaaaiiiirrrr~

I see nearly nobody posted to it, because it's obvious that the players already in-game don't actually care about anyone else.

The app workshop was a spur of the moment decision to satisfy a few whiners who were upset their friends didn't get in.

As for nobody using it, I don't think it has anything to do with caring or not. It was a little advertised feature to begin with, especially to people who are not yet in the game. It's only gotten a few bites ever since its inception. It's one thing to ask your plurk friends, who probably know you and your character, to review your app for you. It's an entire other thing to put it up for an entire game to see. For the players, it's the same making those criticisms and judgments. Nobody wants to be the one to tell someone, who is likely a stranger, their app sucks, or worse, say it's good only to have it be rejected in the end.

I really wish the mods would just scrap the app workshop altogether.

It's not the responsibility of the playerbase to workshop other people's apps. The only one responsible for that app is the applicant. It's nice if someone else can look it over, but not necessary, and a lack of response certainly doesn't mean that newbies are unwanted or not cared for by the current playerbase. Maybe someone is busy, or not canon familiar, or they just don't feel comfortable telling a person their app looks great when they aren't mods and might be setting that person up for disappointment if they get rejected.

It it was just a neglected copypasted post, I'd say meh, some people have used it and it's not like it takes a lot of effort to put it up, might as well keep it around. But I've seen multiple people now say that seeing a neglected app workshop post makes the game look unfriendly and uncaring (even though most games don't have app workshops period) so yeah I wish they'd quietly scrap it.

The app workshop is useless because the problem wasn't that the mods had high standards, but that they had inconsistent standards. Getting other people to check your apps won't help if those people also don't know what the mods' criteria is.
