i've never seen the movie and have no real intention of ever seeing it. i've never seen the original either

tbh, that if that word salad is something they actually said, then no, they don't have a point and they're just reaching for something that sounds mildly intelligent to justify their hatred of the movie, whether that hatred is based in sexism or something else.

yeah, that is literally what they called it, verbatim. i mean, i'm mostly asking because maybe the movie has some kind of heavy-handed political message i'm unaware of, not having seen it. but the whole thing has left me a tad uncomfortable because they're suddenly talking like they've been serial binging on rush limbaugh or something

as far as ghostbusters is concerned, a movie itself can't be regressive unless it's really ham-handed propaganda, but there have been a lot of politics surrounding the movie's reception that makes me raise an eyebrow. the way the avgn got shit on as misogynist neckbeard for not wanting to review it is pure regressive behavior

I didn't grow up with Ghostbusters so I don't have strong feelings either way but honestly, you don't need to be any kind of neckbeard to think "Bridesmaids"-style humor is bad. I can't imagine what it must be like for people who did love GB.
