Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

That's not always what "chronic Lyme" means, anon.

http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/lyme.html

There's a big market for selling bullshit to people who think they have "chronic" Lyme, as well as a lot of New Agey misinformation about how Lyme disease works.

lyme disease can be cured with a simple course of antibiotics, but of course that doesn't make nearly as much money as convincing people that they have some sort of chronic illness.

It can... If you catch it early. Their own link admitted that.

Eh, considering I've seen doctors tell a loved one who got Lyme that he can't have it because he's not from Connecticuit? There's a lot of bullshit going on everywhere.

Also, keep this in mind from your own site: Lyme disease, when diagnosed early, is readily treatable with oral antibiotics.

I've known people who've gotten positively-identified with Lyme early on who were dismissed because it's not what the doctor wanted.

sure you have, honey.

your anecdotal claims, completely unable to be backed up by any facts or science, totally invalidate everything else.

That's when you get a second opinion, dude. A positive lab identification is very, very different from perceived symptoms.

The existence of Lyme disease outside of Connecticut is something that has been proven. The existence of "chronic" Lyme hasn't stood up to scientific testing. The fact that you heard secondhand about a shitty doctor doesn't change the fact that there's an entire suite of businesses selling books and questionable therapies to people who don't need them and could be harmed by them.
