You sound fat

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i think the issue is that you didn't specifically mention that there were people out there who do things like this for dubious reasons

otherwise it seems like you're saying "no one who self-DXes is ever doing anything wrong!" which is... well it ain't concern trolling but it's also not true.

I guess, but it feels like bringing that up at every turn just downplays the other side of the story. like, people know there are assholes. but if all you ever talk about are the assholes, you're not really selling the good people who are unfortunately stuck with them.

I don't know. it's a losing battle, I guess. people don't really want to change their minds.

i disagree. it shows that you're aware of and can acknowledge the fact that some people have flaws. the problem with a lot of arguments on this matter is that a fair number of them are written by people who simply refuse to believe that "xxx group" can do anything wrong, whether that group is self-DXers or anti-self-DXers or whatever.

it shows that you're aware of both sides of the situation. the fact that you can acknowledge the unsavory people doesn't hurt your argument -- it HELPS, because it proves to your audience that you are aware of both sides of the issue. because of that, no one can accuse you of being too stupid/in denial to know what you're talking about.

all you need is one sentence: "i am aware those people exist, and they're in the wrong, but these people also exist and maybe we should consider them a bit more."

late, but that's a good point. I'll keep that in mind.
