hole being a shitty band and her toxic public persona come to mind. those had nothing to do with cobain (hole would have made it to mainstream radio with or without her connection to him, imho, but that doesn't make them any less terrible)

i'm not saying she's a flawless perfect angel, she's had her fair share of fuck ups and tons of issues.

but if you think the narrative of courtney driving him to suicide is limited to a small minority, rather than a pervasive narrative that nirvana fans have been running for over twenty years to the point it's practically memetic, you're the one who's being naive.

how is yoko ono deserving of it tho like she's done a shitton for women's rights, asian women's rights, and a ton of charities and whether you like her art or not is up to you but i think some of it was really good and really important.

first of all, anon said they were undeserving, and you're right about yoko, at least.

but hole being good? you may want to rethink your tastes. everything she did good she lifted wholesale from other artists, namely mudhoney and wendy o williams (and so did nirvana, for that matter, but we're talking about hole here)

Certainly not. There was a lot happening with the Beatles in the late 60's. Brian Epstein died, Magical Mystery Tour was completely panned, John and Paul had been at each others throats over creative differences, Paul was pissed they weren't touring anymore, George felt like the band never supported him, Ringo was exhausted, there was a huge disagreement over signing Allen Klein as their new manager, support staff that they'd had for years was quitting or being fired by Klein, and absolutely none of them were enjoying themselves anymore.

Yoko (or more importantly, John's insistence on involving her in nearly every single aspect of Beatles business without asking the other three first) was a factor, sure, but she was just yet another sprinkling of gunpowder on top of the massive powder keg of resentment the four of them had been cramming to the max for the past nine years.

If anyone put the nail in the coffin years too soon, it was Klein.
