they're pretty gross. they also do have shelters exclusively for men and only men to my knowledge? might just be my specific state or county, but i know they don't have any for women around here (but there aren't many shelters in general for anyone).

yeah i'm well aware of how gross the salvation army is. tbh i don't see the issue with men-only shelters? there are women-only shelters where i live, so i feel like the reverse should be fine.

it is definitely an issue if there's no shelters for women at all, but i don't really see the problem if there's men-only/men-focused stuff.

except they stated how those organizations in their area treated women. it doesn't make them pissy about it. it just means that some areas are anti-women. with a lot of laws/rules out there that business can and do abuse (firing employees for using birth control and not being married), the fact that you'd sit here and try to argue that there aren't places in the united states that don't shit on women.

that's not what i'm saying? i'm not saying this area doesn't treat women badly because other areas don't. my interpretation of the comment is that it seemed original anon was saying the shops were anti-women because they focused on men instead. i very well may have misunderstood them.

my point is that it's ok to have men-focused facilities and issues. if there's no help in the area for women that's definitely a problem that needs to be addressed, but the existence of men-focused things isn't bad.

here most resale shops are run by religious groups that are pretty anti-women and most of what they sell go toward rehabilitating and housing only males who are homeless or drug addicted (and in some cases pretty violent) but they offer no support for women.

seems pretty cut and dry to me. support for men, no support for women. there's not much to misunderstand unless someone is projecting their own experiences onto it.

you live in one of two states then.

men only shelters tend to get picketed, vandalized, and pretty a lot of owners get driven to suicide due to all the harassment and bankruptcy.

it's extremely hard to get funding, since the us government only really gives money out to women/children shelters.

can you provide any links on this topic? i've always wondered why there aren't any shelters for men (yeah sjws men are so privileged that's why there's 150,000+ of them on the streets as opposed to 12-15,000 women) and this seems like an illuminating explanation

I honestly can't tell if you if there are any links of actual research done on the subject beyond the stats of like the homeless issue, suicide, and other things. Or the news stories that get pulled out to many times (Earl Silverman from Canada hanging himself after being financially ruined and losing everything, breaking peaceful protest laws by barring entrances and exits to events and not getting arrested for it.)

Part of the issue seems to be that when someone wants to run a study or do something (like building a male and children shelter or running a forum of battered husbands) get protested, have fire alarms pulled, get expelled/told they can't do it, or triggerlypuff and her cohorts appear to try and distrupt an event that may or may not be trying to breach that subject. On that last part I freaking hate Milo and his #TheTriggering but that comedian he had with him did have some good points in his rants even if he is normally an idiot...ugh. There are other issues like shit being conflated with RotK and Redpill when there is no connection.

I'm honestly trying to phrase this better but the words escape me. But the basic reason for why there are no shelters for men is that...men are kinda seen as disposable by most societies.

Here's one I could find. Services for male victims of abuse, especially at the hands of a woman, seriously suck. Men are far more likely to be homeless or die as victims of violent crime, but there's so little energy given to preventing both.
