I'm worried that the crowd my character has fallen in with is affecting other people wanting to play with me. It's not a group that's been dragged on the regular, but I've seen some of their names pop up on anon memes. Any advice? I like the interactions a lot but I don't want to be limited because of who I associate with.

are you like, new to dwrp? genuine question. unless someone gets namedropped on an anonmeme very consistently with actual proof of terrible behavior, namedrops tend to be done by people with grudges for whatever reason.

i don't know why this is affecting your decision. you should play with them because it's fun, or don't play with them because it's not fun. wankgate is useless 99% of the time.

I am a little new. I'm not concerned with wankgate as much as I am with having seen them around here as well. It's more that I'm worried that other players see me interacting with a group of people they dislike and avoid me too.

well, ymmv, but i don't think people tend to do that. unless you're up someone else's ass 24/7 nobody is going to notice and avoid you because you rp with someone they don't like. and if they do, then... you probably don't want to rp with them anyway because that's some unhealthy overinvestment.

tbh if someone avoids you because you have a thread with a minor wanker they're probably petty as shit and not worth interacting with.

a couple people might be avoiding you because your cr irritates them enough not to want to have shared close cr with them, but if it's only the occasional vague namedrop, it won't be more than one or two people, not enough to have a big impact on your CR pool.

yes, by all means drop the cr that you have that you really enjoy for potential cr that you might never have or enjoy nearly as much. this is clearly the logical choice.

people are able to distinguish good players from bad players, even if one good player's character mingles with an unpopular crowd OOCly. trust me, i've done this before and it didn't hurt my standing in the game to my knowledge.
