Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

have you ever gotten to be around hippos and if so how terrifying are they?

what's the scariest animal in the zoo you have to work around?

nope, we don't have hippos at my zoo; however, I can most definitely assure you that they are just as terrifying as you would think a mouth living in a swamp would be.

the scariest is hard to say because I generally feel rather safe at work despite being around elephants and rhinos and great apes, but occasionally when I'm near big cats I realize very suddenly just how quickly and easily they could rip me to pieces. the recent news from Florida of a keeper being mauled by a tiger really hit everyone here hard - the whole zoo community, really. it's sad, but it's a good reminder of why we do the time-consuming safety practices we do. I was in one of the big cats' viewing areas when the cat was locked inside its holding area and a keeper called to ask if I was still there, as they wanted to let the cat out into the viewing area. sometimes I think about how if they had been assumptive about my position, I could be dead within seconds. it's definitely made everyone much more serious about safety, and we're already very obsessive about it to begin with.

out of the great apes do you have any favorites?

I like the gorillas we have, they're rather laid back and rarely act out. Though ours are rather old, so that makes sense - we're about to get some youngsters, I believe, so many my feelings on them will change.
