what is this game like

cliquey

cliquebox would be more accurate, there's really no point in joining unless you're already rolling with the in crowd. i don't say that to be entirely disparaging either, that's just how it's set up. it's a glorified musebox for friends, kind of like drift fleet.

salty anon is salty. it's fine. i joined knowing only the person who invited me and had no problems playing. it's a good casual atmosphere. the ooc chat can get a little sjw and whiny, but you don't have to participate in that at all.

i didn't know anyone and i get by, but i find more forgetful flakes than cliques

flaky and boring writers. it's hard to get any consistent threads going, and i feel like some of the characters are OOC at times. but i haven't seen much of got beyond the first season, so what do i know.

yeah, there's a little bit of ooc going on in places, but at the same time, it's a low-stress place to fuck around for a couple hours every so often. my personal approach to it is to treat it more like a giant meme or a dressing room than an actual game. you're probably going to get frustrated if you go in to it expecting an invested level of steady, deep cr and advanced character growth and stuff.

they're in a sol game with tons of 'modern' characters, you have to suspend your belief for them to fit in at all. they have to adapt or be those weird characters out on the fringe who never engage with the game

also sansa is a crau with about three years in two other panfandom games in her history so she's changed a lot

I have a lot of fun. I like that there's no AC so people never beg to make it which is a peeve of mine in other games. I've had plenty of fast threads and the atmosphere is relaxed so I don't feel too anxious about being totally IC and on the ball all the time and I can make use of the premise being good for ships. It's kind of like a meme but with lots of characters and continuity between threads.

I do feel like there are a lot of Marvel/DC characters that are a little cliquey and don't really play across the medium divide, but there are also enough other players and characters that it doesn't matter. There are also a nice amount of book and video game characters, although the Raven Cycle cast are totally absent.

Finally there are definitely some wankgate big names in the game, and some people who I've never seen on wankgate who are really obnoxious and awful, but I've also found it's not necessary to add everyone on plurk or keep up with the game chat to get threads, so I just keep my distance OOC and I haven't seen any drama.

I joined only knowing a few people and knowing ahead of time that a couple of people I actively dislike were in the game, but I've been having a good time and it's not difficult to avoid people for the most part if you're not interested in playing with them. I was checking my threads for AC earlier and yeah a lot of them get dropped at 10 comments or under, but I tag out often enough that I still hit some good ones and enjoy myself.

So far I've mostly been playing more sol, but I'm going to try and get more creative with some of the easily utilized darker aspects of the setting, so hopefully that'll be fun too. It's like pretty much any other low key game I've ever been in. Bit more interesting than Eudio though, if only because there's a bit more freedom with the setting.
