Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

why do they only have like 5 out of 26 registers open at any given time? that's gotta suck for you guys too.

The best explanation I have gotten is that it's because they don't want to pay anyone else to be there on register. It's even worse when your job is a neighborhood market, though. Food Stamp Days are hell, as are any days before major storms. People panic stock up and the lines are full, and there we have maybe two to four open at a time.

About a year before my physical health took me out for unrelated reasons. I'm glad it gave me an excuse, thought.

Strangest was how we had this one woman, like clockwork, who'd show up ever yFriday, then wait for the biggest load she could find, and make sure to somehow get in line before them. While they were dealing with kids, she's stealthily remove the barrier that marks the end and... Pay for the person's groceries. Over $100. No one ever understood why, she'd leave without a word, take her one bag of small things and just. Leave. Workers stopped questioning it. We're pretty sure she was rich and just wanted to help out less fortunate people. Given most people who came to our store were poor people on food stamps, she basically allowed that family a ton of extra that month.

Worst is an old man yelled at me when I was clearly already near tears in my line, because I wasn't smiling and was being quiet. I had just gotten news that my aunt had passed away not ten minutes before. He didn't care. The good news is the lady after him as I finished the line out basically ranted about how awful he was and how sorry she felt I had to put up with that, and even gave me a pack of tissues and hung around until I finished out my line to leave since they were letting me off as soon as I finished my line.

Strange because I was a cashier and I rarely saw the best out of humanity. I tended to see the worst, so this random old lady who paid for strangers' groceries was pretty bizarre.

That first story is actually pretty sweet. And thanks for answering!

I hope it made you smile. It's nice remembering her, she was probably the only reason I could stand working on Fridays.
