Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

still kinda new, but i wanted to say that i'm having a great time in this little game. the pace is nice, the players are welcoming, the characters are interesting, and the mods are on the ball.

so my partner is apping to a dw game and i want to go with them and theyre most likely going to futurology which is cool and all but im kind of scared if i might not be able to like keep up with the pace or something

its my first time ever rping on dreamwidth outside of small things on bakerstreet and i dont know everything

i guess like... my question is "should i look somewhere else" and maybe also "pls describe the futurology experience if possible"

(i didnt know if i should be posting this on this thread or not sry)

as far as keeping up: what is your usual tagging pace? in my experience, pace in futuro is pretty flexible. most people will tag a thread about once a day or so, some more, some less. You'll usually be able to find someone to boomerang if you want to, but you won't fall too far behind if you can't tag for a few days. the plot is there and you should be keeping up on it to know what your character should be aware of on an IC level, but it's not too grueling. log participation is optional and you can control your thread load if you need to. generally there are about 2 major plot logs/happenings a month, and they will be announced and scheduled on the monthly calenders (http://axiology.dreamwidth.org/43511.html like this one!!) so you can be prepared for them/let people know if you'll be busy during them.

oocly ac reqs are pretty low (two of either a 5 comment log thread or a 10 comment network thread) and the community's generally pretty laid back and flexible about both tone and speed. the app queue isn't too competitive rn either, so honestly I'd say app in and give it a shot, anon! worst case scenario, it doesn't work out and you drop, best case scenario, it does, and you stay! I bet we'd love to have you.

da's two cents

I've been finding that it's harder than you'd think to get to those 5 action or 10 network comments in a thread. People I've been tagging with tend to drop one or two comments shy of that mark, which is especially frustrating because we're both then losing out on points that could be banked to make special requests later. Often times the thread is dropped before there's an IC resolution so handwaving happens a lot, too.

There's a core group or two that tags pretty regularly and they're pretty good about reaching out to others but a few people's hearts just aren't in tagging outside of the few people they're there to play with, so it can be hard to get traction. You'll want to try to stick it through the three week doldrums because it can take a lot more time than you'd hoped to build CR outside of friends you joined the game with.

It's going to be a different experience than Bakerstreet by a long shot in some ways, and other ways totally not. Just try to go with the flow and keep Bakerstreet-levels of investment with strangers until you find other players whose style and characters click with yours. You'll get less jerked around if you try to keep a steady pace but don't sweat the small stuff.
