kind of annoyed at some of the changes, tbh, esp. with the whole police thing. still starting to like it, though.

My biggest problem is the way Maze has changed. From being a loyal "come hell or high water" right hand to catty, jealous chick who's obviously The Loser in a pseudo-love triangle, not to mention her going behind Lucifer's back?

i think she's still loyal and she pointed that out at the end of this episode, saying she would look out for him whether he wanted her to or not. she legitimately thinks she's doing right by him. he might be right, though, he might not be the only one being affected by staying on earth, so it's really up to see how far it goes. i don't read the comics, but i've read a blurb about what she can do with his wings considering she has that feather, so i'm curious to see where that goes, too.

At the very end of the series, yeah.

Maz is utterly devoted to Lucifer, but there are several times where she calls him on his shit, subtly or overtly.

(I can't compare to the TV version, though, I haven't seen it.)

tbh, i love any character that's willing to call someone out on their shit. that she's as devoted to him as she is and can still tell him he's being an ass just makes it better.

if you like her in the comics, you'd probably like her in the series. she's got a dark sense of humor, is devoted to lucifer and enjoys causing pain, and has no trouble calling him out on his shit as well as trying to play matchmaker to chloe and dan to try to get her out of lucifer's life so he can stop being distracted with human shit and be the devil again.

Mazikeen: You need to leave. Now.
Lucifer Morningstar: What's the rush? It's just getting exciting.
Mazikeen: Humans are playing with their guns, and now they're running for cover. No reason to find out if your bones will break too.
Lucifer Morningstar: Well, what about my broken... heart?

well, yeah, that's a given though. i'd classify the series itself as a little campy. it's not even 50% serious. but i like that sort of humor, so it's fine for me. might not be for anyone expecting or looking for something darker.

that's fine, ydy! just wanted to clarify that "liking mazikeen in the comics means you'll probs like her in the show!" bit since. well. you also need to like several other things to get into the show.

true, but then, i'm saying that as someone that hasn't seen the comics and has no idea of the vibe of them. i sort of figured they'd be similar like... oh, pff, i dunno, tank girl comics vs the movie? or maybe losers comic vs the movie? or sin city vs... sin... city? all i know is that there are comics and they're from the same comic type as constantine, which i believe is a branch off or subsidiary of dc comics?

this is all i know, for i am a loser who does not read comics. for shame on me. for shame.

without going into quality differences, i would say it's like this: take a cookie cutter and bake a cookie in that shape. then take the same cookie cutter and use it to bake a garlic biscuit in that shape. they are obviously similar, but not really close enough for someone who's in the mood for one to eat the other.

that make sense. i know that 'based on' versions of things don't always live up to what they're based on or they can branch off pretty differently from the original source. at least lucifer is upfront about the fact that they're loosely based on the comics and have diverted from it right off the bat. it'd be interesting to see if they try to get a constantine appearance in there, though. i believe they're in the same universe? but if the series seems to be pretty non-supernatural or comic themed and constantine has tied into the dcu tv verse already, i doubt they'll cross it.

still, i find it a fun watch and for people that like that sort of thing, they might like it. it's better than some of what's available out there and the fact that it pisses off the million moms makes me happy just a little.
