Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i don't want to go into detail but just reading the app for one character made me roll my eyes because they seem to have missed like... the core motivation for their character having made a really huge decision in canon. it's made perfectly clear. and usually when people fuck that up their entire portrayal of this character is completely off, and this is no exception

it's not like i fault the mods though because you'd have to be canon-familiar to know this and they probably aren't, so

sa

*it's made perfectly clear = meaning, the reason why they did what they did was made perfectly clear in canon, but the player interprets things as being ambiguous. they aren't

eh, not everyone can write a good app. assuming you're in the game and have seen them in play, if they're leaving out something big enough to effect their characterization, i'd say that's still crit-worthy.

even really terrible portrayals can be fixed up with effort. but they won't get any better if they don't even realize they missed something, you know?

i've definitely had situations where, if i was playing from a long canon (like several seasons of tv), i might have missed something totally because i just had a memory or attention fail for the thirty seconds it was being discussed/revealed and i haven't gone back to watch it again because i haven't had a full rewatch lately so i haven't realized. in those situations, i'd have wanted someone to tell me, and i'm pretty thin-skinned about crit.

their threads in the game basically follow what's reflected in the app and at this point, my only advice would be to start over. the thing they missed is one of those fundamental things that one needs to know to play the character well, so crit seems pretty pointless and would be unbelievably time-consuming because of how much i'd have to explain

people seem to be having fun with them so w/e, i can easily just not app into that cast
