Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Current Test Drive and Upcoming Plot Info

The Steampunk Pirate Test Drive Meme.

The strange being behind the Legionnaires being pulled into the game universe is messing with everyone involved by tossing them into a pocket dimension where they're forced into a pirate battle as steampunk pirates. Non-players not considering joining are also welcome to join in if they just like the idea of the meme.

As for anyone considering joining the game, our upcoming plots include an action plot where characters can defend the UP Council for an attack, a diplomacy mission with the attempted assassination of a community's elder, and the team facing off against their first major cosmic threat -- one that can't be beaten with brute force. If you have characters that are up for some action, good with diplomacy or detective work, or are scientists and creative problem solvers, you'll definitely find a lot to do with our upcoming plots.

Currently 31 of 40 players slots are available in the game. The current character limit is 3 characters per player.

so if you don't mind me asking, how well do you think a pacifistic character would do here? i'm really interested in apping this character with healing and defensive abilities and i'd definitely be interested in getting them involved in the upcoming diplomacy stuff, but a lot of the time more action-oriented games just aren't good fits for diplomacy-oriented characters in the long-term without actually getting them into punching stuff and that's totally legit but i figured i'd ask!

This would definitely be a good game for more pacifistic characters! The Legion of Superheroes has a very firm no-killing policy (stricter than quite a few superteams) and that means they prefer to resolve most issues as nonviolently as possible. Naturally, it doesn't always work out that way, hence their need to fight and fight well, but that definitely means characters with more pacifistic natures could fit in well.

The game will be very action-oriented but there are definitely going to be issues that can't be resolved with brute force where characters will need diplomacy, science skills, or problem-solving. (Kind of like many Doctor Who or Star Trek episodes where people have to think their way out of a situation without using violence). Sometimes even in mod plots with major action elements, we're going to put more of these non-combat elements.

You also can run as many player missions with diplomacy elements to your heart's content. The mods can provide you any info you need to run them.

In the case of a character with defensive and healing abilities, they'd definitely be able to have an active role even in the more action-oriented plots. In the canon the game's based on, there have always been Legionnaires with more passive abilities that hung back from the hardest of the fighting to shield people or do sciencey stuff. As long as they could defend themselves and others (such as someone hurt they're trying to heal) they wouldn't expected to be heavy combatants. Every battle's going to produce some injured Legionnaires or civilians, after all.
