I've seen someone do it with Tali from mass effect before and that's probably the only time i'd call it appropriate considering what the character actually looks like. (i mean the fact that you only see her in a hood, obviously not her badly photoshopped Getty images "photo" in the third game)

the thing about jasper is that redemption arcs only happen because steven pushes it, because he shows those gems empathy when no one else will, and jasper... sort of got off the wrong foot with him immediately because she showed up, broke his face, basically MURDERED GARNET in front of him as far as he knew, etc.

whereas steven was the first person to try to talk to peridot and was the only person lapis trusted, even with everything that they did. honestly, i feel like if steven even considered jasper redeemable, he would have said something about it before now, especially since he knows lapis is holding her hostage. kid has a good sense about these things, because he really must have known something about peridot the other gems didn't if he continued to try and befriend her throughout everything she did even BEFORE she was caught.
