Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

they're probably just busy or lazy, not devoting their lives to this "social experiment"-type scheme of yours.

hey there, Elle, aka whatmenfear aka Plurk=shellacker. You keep mixing up a bunch of people and making this supposed wanker salad just because I agreed with you that your actions were cowardly. Once I did that, you went ballistic on me, and took every shitposters word that I am a bunch of other posters who are all supposed to be Jess, and who went out of their way to wank on Dominus Aka Beck, AKA BackAgain.

I am sick of you spreading rumors about me. I have deets that this shit didn't happen.

I sent you a pm to ask you to leave me alone, again. I would appreciate it if you would.

Have fun hating me with Dealing_death, Reoccuring aka Motherofdragons on plurk.

Another +1 to the Type-Moon fandom except my favorite is Tsukihime. I've met one or two decent fans through Dreamwidth. The rest are creeps who stalk ex-cast members around even after they've stopped playing and literal garbage bins.

A bit pricey for a planner but incredible quality. There's a lot of etsy shops that sell stickers to fill in for the boxes too. You see these planners plenty in the instagram planner tags so that will help you get a better idea of how much you can write.

Went searching around for alternatives. From the sounds of it, you want a weekly vertical or horizontal style planner so I searched through my bookmarks for those kind.

As a personal note, Target has a LOT of planners. If you can visit one in person, you should. I had better luck there than Office Depot.

... So

How is</> Tumblr RP, for those of you who've tried it? I know literally nobody over there so I don't even know where I'd start. Is it even worth the effort? What does it offer that DW doesn't?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
I can't even get my coding right over here good lord

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I've considered dipping my toes into Tumblr RP because most of my fandoms are almost dead here, and while I love all my cross-canon stuff, it'd still be nice to play with a castmate every once in a while. Tumblr has a few people playing from these series, and my hopes were pretty high.

But what I've found is that people there like to talk more about RP than they actually like RPing. Writing quality is probably on par with what it is here, but everything moves so goddamn slow. Not only that, but a lot of the people I found were really clingy OOCly, in a "you'd better not play with any other people playing character X" kind of way.

I also don't like that it's so disorganized. The site just does not lend itself very well to roleplay.

Granted, this all might be specific to my fandoms, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's still not an excuse for bad writing. If it was a full-on nonsense show like Spongebob, then fine, but "Oh, it's for children" isn't an excuse for bad or lazy writing. It's same kind of thinking that keeps a lot of animation from getting respect.

She said he should have gathered souls to break the barrier peacefully, which is the most puzzling part. Also, in most neutral endings, she declares humans should be treated as friends and not enemies. You're right about her grief, though, and I think her grudge isn't entirely fair. Both she and Asgore are... pretty messed up, honestly, so I can probably swing it. In fact, here's some very rough ideas.

- Asgore gets the first soul, but can't commit to his plan despite declaring war on humanity. Leaves to the ruins in shame. Toriel is left in charge of the Underground. Potentially takes the first soul to cross the barrier and attempt to collect souls in a peaceful manner, but (assuming this happens shortly after Asriel's death) the first humans she encounters assume the worst. Not wanting to spark an actual war, Toriel returns to the Underground, unsure of how to proceed.

- Time passes. Every now and then, more humans trickle into the Underground. Toriel tries to dissuade the humans that reach the capital from leaving, knowing that it requires a human and monster soul to leave and not wanting to abandon her kingdom. Perhaps some humans stay and die of natural causes, but I imagine at least some would be desperate to return to their families, and given the danger of a human with a strong intent to kill/harm, she'd be unable to safely pull punches and end up overpowering those who fight.

At least in that case, it'd be more out of self-defense, but I imagine the process would still be extremely painful emotionally, especially given Toriel's love of children. The small ray of hope would be the Determination experiments, but we all know how those turn out. And let's be real; Undyne being in charge of them would probably not yield any better results, even if she'd likely be more stubborn and persistent about fixing the damage. ~Never giving up~ and all that shounen stuff.

Sans still remains a challenge because he's such a foil to Papyrus' more bombastic attitude. Papyrus is motivated, Sans is lazy, and by shifting Sans to Papyrus' role... It's tricky. I know his laziness is presented as him having given up in the Genocide route/True Ending. This begs the question of if he was always lazy or if it stemmed from whatever happened during his science days in canon and the knowledge of the resets.

Due to the stark differences in attitudes, though, I'm still leaning more towards a partial switch, if I can find a good way to justify him taking an interest in the royal guard/actually being in it. Someone suggested that Papyrus may have gotten him motivated to do so, so that's... the tentative idea, and he's already a sentry in canon. Eh, this is all still up in the air, and I gotta canon review.

it's hard to say anything valuable about this because you can find almost anything you're looking for on tumblr. it's not like DWRP where it's a really small site and we form a fairly cohesive community with common standards and etiquette, etc. the tumblr rp community is dozens of times the size of DWRP. so it really depends on who you find and what circles/communities you fall into.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Tumblr has the single worst format for collaborative writing/RP out of every venue, IMO. In general they're also extremely focused on graphics and presentation and spamming gifs in every response, to the point where you may be passed over entirely if you haven't myspaced up your tumblr enough. You could have to deal with the SJW culture, and wanky fucks might target you and try to run you off if they don't like some insignificant aspect of how you play.

What the above anon said was also true of my experience. Psychotically clingy people OOC (one threatened suicide if I didn't stop playing with someone else who played the same character as them), most seemed to prefer talking about RP and our characters' dynamics more than actually playing it out, etc.

I've had the direct opposite experience as some of the people here, where tagging around is encouraged, and while some people do spice up their replies, it's not expected. But I'm also from a smaller, more obscure fandom that doesn't exist here on DW. At most, I put in icons on my post. And not even that all the time.

It's prose-based, so there's that, too.

OOCly, I've made friends, and they haven't been any more clingy than people here on DW and there's many doubles in my fandom.
