Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i just checked my email and holy crap! thank you so much, anon!

okay, but what about Annie then? it's not dismissing the point when anon's other example had the two lead fucking characters as black.

if you're gonna argue that this kind of thing is bad for movies, don't cherrypick your examples when there are others that prove you wrong

i've been thinking of giving nick a spin

Is this a common thing?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
So my favorite online game shut down a few years ago because the company wanted to focus on the even more 3-D spinoff game (which had nothing to do with the other game besides all the characters being expies of the old game's characters.)

I just found out that the mobile version is STILL UP.

Why?? The mobile game is in the hands of an entirely different company (hence all the naming errors). The plot's never going to advance beyond the cliffhanger the original company left it on because they suddenly canceled everything & then shut down every server.

As a fan, it is utter hell to be reminded of all the wasted potential (the foreshadowing! the deleted concept arts! all the retconned plot & new art that were done to the game before it suddenly shut down despite the large playerbase!). But dammit, I can't stop playing the mobile version, I miss the characters & their VAs too much.....

But it sure pisses me off that the mobile version has less lag, better graphics & fewer bugs than the ACTUAL GAME did. (Even the plotline is more streamlined & less buggy....)

we get told a shitload of times that non-whites can't look up to white characters and need role models their own race

but then why is it okay to take a white role model away from little white girls? are white kids somehow magically more inclined to disregard race, or are the spouters of the above rhetoric just full of shit and they're only after racebending certain white characters because they're desperate to piggy-back on the existing white character's popularity

what's going to happen if they keep pushing this abuse of the paintbucket tool, instead of taking the time to actually be creative and nuanced? anyone light-skinned gets to lose their heroes, their role models, the people they looked up to

there are certainly awesome non-white young girl detectives out there that are popular with non-white children, this director should make an effort to use and promote one of them instead. promote black literature, promote black culture, not just brownface a white girl and call it a day

annie was garbage though, they neutered the unpleasant characters and the writing was horrendous

the only thing they continually focused on in marketing was HEY LOOK WE HAVE A BLACK ANNIE ANNIE'S BLACK MM-HMM GIRLFRIEND UH-HUH LOOK SHE'S HELLA BLACK YO

that's not how you tell a story ffs

........ you know i didn't even know grand chase had a mobile game

that is apparently a tactical rpg???

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
you're acting like there's no white people left in hollywood. chill. white little girls still have plenty of heroines to look up to, both new ones coming out and old ones to look back on.

you definitely have a point that hollywood could do a lot more to promote the stories of characters that are already black, but taking it in the direction of "white people lose their heroes!!!!!!!" is just weird.

What game?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
I know you're just a shitposter, but:

1. Black Panther is getting a movie and Luke Cage is getting a Netflix series.

2. The people who did black Johnny Storm couldn't do those characters because they don't have the rights to them.

You've been saying this since before we left LJ, chicken little.

Yeah the mobile version has a really large amount of high ratings compared to other rpg apps.

The misspellings are annoying but at least the cutscenes don't fuck up the character names by using the wrong names!

New players get a Lime & a Rufus as login prizes.

+1

Grand Chase. It was a pretty swell RPG without the hentai boobs. (There was still fanservice, but just not hentai boobs.)

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
it was still a success, financially.

it's okay if you didn't like it, but facts is facts, having a poc actor/actress play a traditionally white character has zero negative effect on how successful a movie is.

plus I like it. Annie's not meant to be a well-written film, and really neither is Nancy Drew. so /SHRUG

I forgot to mention that there's also Grand Chase Reborn, the fan server (I think there's one in the Philippines now, too) which is basically in the same dead stuck plot/equipment/dungeons state as the mobile game.

I'd play it except I'm not sure if I can handle the fact that all my cash/event stuff, unlocked characters/jobs/skills and all my grinding is gone & I'd have to regrind again.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
did you know about the mystery files of shelby woo? that shit was my jam as a kid.

i want to replace one color with another in opencanvas 5.5. specifically, on some lineart. is there a way to do this? or to do it in like photoshop cs2 and import it to oc as a layer?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
