Rundown:

rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Hey guys, I will make it short. I’m really sorry for bringing bad news at the start of the year, but we will be dropping Starry Sky In Summer due to legal reasons.

While we still have doubts about this, we are not sure how and why everything happened, whether this is really true or just a prank, negotiating is impossible as we haven’t received a reply from the sender since, we don’t want to take risks.

Unless this turns out to be all one big joke during New Year, or we can get permission from Asgard themselves, we will no longer be making English patches or involved in any translation for Asgard’s games. Black Wolves Saga and Ken ga Kimi will be on semi-hiatus due to this issue.

Also for those who wonder why we didn’t ask for permission in the first place, you are wrong if you think contacting a developer from overseas, way over in Japan is easy. You can barely contact localization companies.

All in all, we will drop Starry Sky In Summer, and have deleted all downloads related to Starry Sky After Spring on our blog. We thank you for supporting us so far and we are sorry to disappoint you.

If there is anything you want to say or ask, just leave a message on tumblr askbox or chat function. I will not reply to any whining such as “Please continue the project” or bashing members of the group like “You people are wrong, stop making stupid patches”.

Please understand we only wanted to make you happy, to bring you translation of games you want to play and to let you SUPPORT the developer. But it might not be possible anymore. I’m sorry if I sound moody but I’m just really depressed with everything right now.

tl;dr: Golden Spirit has cancelled their plans to release their fan patch of Starry Sky ~In Summer~ and removed download links to their patch for Starry Sky ~After Spring~ due to getting a C&D from the PSP publisher of Starry Sky, Asgard. The fan translations of Black Wolves Saga and Ken ga Kimi will be on semi-hiatus.

i'm going to check this out and if i like it, i don't mind taking screencaps/making icons for people.

i've heard of starry sky, but i've never heard of this group (or is it just a single person translating?) until now but

it might be just me, but the tone of this post kind of rubs me the wrong way. reading this, it sounds like they're so ~shocked~ and ~betrayed~ by the whole thing when they (in their own words) "only wanted to make [fans] happy, to bring you translation of games [they] want to play and to let [them, the fans,] SUPPORT the developer." after all, "it might not be possible anymore" thanks to mean, ol' asgard.

...i'm going to assume these people (or is it a single person?) never actually tried contacting a localization publisher at all. if they actually did contact a publisher such as sekai project, mangagamer, or jast usa, they'd find that they'd be willing to look into licensing the game using their translation. this blog post does list examples of games that used fan translations for official releases including some visual novels:

and didn't jast try to get the rights to release starry sky but couldn't because they couldn't afford the costs for voice acting with the budget they had? so it's not like any of these publishers aren't interested in releasing the series in english.

someone getting back into journal rp after being out of the loop for a while: is the term "tag" falling out of use or something? some of my old rp friends still use it, but a bunch of new people i've added use "prose" or "pose" instead.

what? i don't use anything but tag, nor does anyone i know. prose describes writing in sentences and paragraphs (as opposed to brackets), i haven't heard anyone use it as a noun like this. pose is used on other sites, maybe it's bleeding over a little? but i haven't heard anyone in dwrp use it

tag is the actual act of tagging someone back. you get a tag, you give a tag.

prose is the format of writing prose. much like you would in a book. there's a split in people that enjoy that type of writing vs 'spam posts' or 'bracket posts' which is

pose and post used to be used back in the day when rp was on aim and on forums. (post makes sense in the forum context and drifted to aim, i think pose was just a weird offshoot of it.) we don't use that on dwrp, just tag, but i think maybe ij uses it? it seems like they would, they're the rpers that time forgot. maybe your friends are from ij.
