Well, there is still another round of unreleased exotics. This list (https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3lyxef/heres_a_list_of_the_remaining_new_year_2_exotic/) is a bit outdated now as Tarantella and Twilight Garrison at the least are both out now. There are year 2 versions of older exotics in the database that haven't been released yet, too.

Like anon above, I'm also hoping they add some more old strikes to the year 2 playlist. I'm almost certain they'll be adding Summoning Pits at some point as there are two new dead ghosts that are only available during that strike (and a couple more on route to it). I'd like The Nexus and Winter's Run back, too. Anything for more variety.

Other than that, I'm not really sure. Pretty sure there won't be anything more significant until Destiny 2.

I hate that big panfandom games are the dominant force on DWRP right now, and that the only alternatives are medium/small panfandom games.

I'm sick of panfandom in general. I wish there were more single fandom and OC-based games here. The sites where those types of games are popular generally have low quality control and/or have too many games that die within a month.

Yeah, there's a plurk floating around where new potential mods are stepping up to brainstorm, and everything in it so far sounds really cool.

I very much hope it survives!

as one of the people who advised against, I mostly see it as different from using socks in the pairings/kinks threads because those have both sides approaching each other before the first message is sent. Something like this is going to be a surprise for whoever OP wants to play with.

i never get over anything and if a person crosses me even once i make it my mission to drive them out of dwrp

i'm a pretty good writer and can boast some rp success but my real pride is in how many people i've driven out of this hobby or at the very least into hiding

me too. but part of the problem here is there are no big fandoms like there used to be, so single fandom games would die out, too.

they're holding Seoul hostage, for one thing; they don't need working ICBMs to nuke the fuck out of a huge, populous city 80 miles from their border (or mustard-gas it, etc. They've been suspected to have a prolific chemical weapons program for a long time.)

there is also the fact that NK is China's pet, and even if China is condemning their nuclear testing, that doesn't mean that they'd be on board with an international strike force deposing their favorite pocket dictator in their own back yard. it would be hugely provocative and insulting to do that without china's cooperation, and china is a very, very major trading partner for a lot of the world. even if it doesn't start wwiii it would probably lead to economy-crippling sanctions against the countries involved.

that said i'm pretty scared about japan vs. north korea tensions escalating. they've slowly moved up my list of "nuclear crisis points that scare the fuck out of me" to lodge right next to india and pakistan

let's hope china's lack of support for their actions encourages them to step it down a little before they push china into actually trying for a regime change

Re: Star Trek based game

(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
First of all... Star Trek base? ...Federation base, you mean? Is this a mirror universe base or an original universe one? What timeframe are you thinking of pulling from (and for that matter are you thinking of pulling from the original franchise or the reboot?) Will characters be able to find shuttle craft to get them up to operating standards? Are the wormholes on planet or off?

I like the idea of exploring the episodic nature of the Trek franchise, but I don't think you have a great way of approaching mirror universe characters--if anything it seems to me you'd have a more Trek-themed mirror universe if you went Entranceway-style where you had an original and a mirror both... that way there's always one to kill off later. (Let's be real here that's how the writers treated much of the mirror 'verse chars in the show.)

There are other terms thrown around here that don't seem to match up with the arctic planet outpost. Warp windows and worm holes suggest that there are going to be ships involved. The rest (the voices for example) sound like some kind of Energy Being's doing; Q or lesser assholes mashing genres together for... whatever reason? I'd like to see more trek-based challenges than seeing cross-genre baddies, at least unless there is a good reason for Pyramid Head to be stalking the halls. There are plenty of good examples from the TNG franchise alone if you're looking for creepy-pasta one-offs.

Currently what I'm seeing is a generic horror game with Star Trek terms thrown around. Part of what made Star Trek great (and sometimes terrible) was its ability to weave a strong narrative together to build on the Trek universe. If this is an abandoned Federation base on a freezing planet, why is it abandoned? Is it in the Romulan neutral zone? Was it destroyed by Jem'hadar? Is it somewhere in the Delta or Gamma quadrant, years (and lightyears) from any story we know? What happens if a genre-savvy (and knowledgeable) character apps in like Kirk(s) or Picard or Sisko or Janeway or any of their crew? What if someone apped in Q?

TL;DR: Nerd here loves star trek, likes the premise and would like to see more polish and direction to make it feel more like the franchise's setting, fears a generic horror game with the name 'star trek' thrown on.

There are plenty of big fandoms. For whatever reason though, they don't take off here as much as they do on other sites. Probably because we've got a smaller userbase and a wide variety of different mediums.

Re: GAME IDEAS

(Anonymous) 2016-01-06 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Would anyone be interested in a generational/dynastic little jamjar or AU? Game mechanics could involve switching from P-generation characters (ones apped in) to F1-generation (to possibly F2 gen) characters after four to six months of play each, where a new chapter of the game would time-skip forward to the state of affairs for the next generation as they're growing or have grown up.

For setting, whether jamjar or AU, I would probably go with something with at least a little bit of fantasy-based magic and monsters because I enjoy those and there seems to be a call towards them (and a lot of fantasy settings in media follow the pursuits of bloodlines anyways!) Each chapter would put the characters facing a threat, whether recurring from generation to generation, or building one threat upon another depending on if the current chapter is able to solve the dilemma at hand.

This would NOT be a smut-center game, however; at the end of each chapter, players can determine OOCly how their characters might settle down, with whom, what offspring they might have had, all that after 'The End' business, and the next chapter would open on chosen offspring characters or new characters. (Applications for new characters ought to be open from month to month as well, as it seems silly to leave apps to once every 4-6 months!) If characters are inhuman or incapable of having children, it might be possible to pick up a friend's character's child so long as it's been negotiated between players... or I don't know if you want to get up to some weird funky business to create some monster transformers cyborg baby, or man-behind baby maybe there's magic for that. The point being that ICly I don't plan on having that go into detail and I'd expect the playerbase to determine what would be the most fun.

The catch to this is that offspring characters would be required to app in at the beginning of a new chapter, with a specific application form similar to the more detailed versions given to OC's, and careful attention paid to ensure they're not all sparkly snowflake childs. They ought to have some balance so that they don't wreck the fun for others.

So, if you're interested in something like this, would you prefer a jamjar, or an AU? Would you like to see any particular setting tidbits or plot tidbits? Any suggestions to keep things balanced between players?

haven't read the books either, but i really, really liked what i watched. i found it easy to follow so far, the sets are really pretty, the story has me interested, and hell, everyone is very nice to look at. i'm definitely going to stick with it and see where it goes.

Something similar might work with Bloodborne, it's got decent reasons for a jamjar setting and I adore the world of it myself even more than the other Souls game, but I'm biased toward Old One based lore.

Maybe a sandbox of some sort?
